as much as a first game against a pretty bad opponent can be big this was a big win....not only did they survive but they won handily...to have the new line and even the zesty linebackers get what ultimately ends up being a free game under their belt is big...i like that they faced a dome team before having to go to the atl next week...good preparation contest

win next week and a 6-0 record going into the bye is a distinct possibility

with the corners and ends they have the defense has the perimeter locked down...but they have to shore up the middle of the field and that stretches from the tackes to the safeties

assy had a cake walk today with sims walker....him vs roddy next week will be great to watch

a massive step up in opponent next week will be interesting to see because st louis was way worse than i thought they were

beat the atl and a 6-0 record going into the bye week is a distinct possibility

LETS DO THIS!

I thought the O-line played well, especially considering they played as a new unit against a talented D-line. Pass protection was good and run blocking got better as the game progressed.

Linebacker - and particular Matthews - is worse than I feared. They need to do something immediately...sign a vet, trade for someone...don't know what but he was bunched up and taken out of the play every play I watched him and he can't cover for shtein. He's by far the worst MIKE in the league. I wouldn't mind seeing them throw Chaney back in the middle and giving Rolle a chance to play SAM.

PhillyPhreak54

What happened to Vaughn Hebron on PGL?

Agreed on Matthews.

Chaney to MLB and Clayton or Rolle on the field

I thought the o-line was shaky as hell to terrible to start... but got better as the game went on. Kelce looked lost in the beginning with all the different looks the Spags was throwing at him, but seemed like he adjusted OK. I found myself watching Herremans a lot and I thought he looked pretty good for the most part.

The D-line: Pass rush was pretty damn good for most of the game. Bradford never looked comfortable back there, and everybody and they momma got a sack today. Against the run... ugh. I know the wide 9 is designed to concede rush yards to a point, but damn... it just leaves too much to the LB's (Matthews) who damn sure didn't look up to the task today... and that was against Cadillac for all but 2 plays too. Mike Turner next week could get ugly.

CB's: Outside of a bump here or there, (Assy's PA)... they looked pretty good. DRC drew a tough matchup in Amendola and did well. Like mentioned before... I forgot Sims-Walker even played for the Rams. Assy might as well bought him a ticket because he was straight up watching the game. Asante dropped the easiest INT in the history of man.

LB's: Matthews played just like we thought he would... like he was overwhelmed. Gotta do something at MLB. Chaney is by far the best LB out there already. Fokou... get your ass up off the ground after your one TFL for the year and line up for the next play.

Losing Jackson on the first series was a huge blow.  He could've had over 200 on the Eagles D today.  And I don't think the Rams are as bad as they looked.  They'll still be in the mix in that awful West.  Their 1st half schedule is brutal though...

I don't know...Cadillac was running all over them too when he came in, but they made adjustments and slowed him down.

As bad as the linebackers were, the defense only gave up 13 points.   Bradford was scared to throw downfield the entire game, and the Rams were relying on short passes over the middle.  I think the combination of our d-line with our cornerbacks is going to help cover up the fact that our linebackers are pure shtein.  Any word on Tapp??? He looked really well before the injury.

Just saw the highlights.  Damn Shady is fast!  The Vick TD to Pimp was sick.  Vick moving backwards full speed, defender in his face and he drills it right into Pimp.  Beautiful.

Obviously missed the game due to my travels but I would have loved to have seen the LB's.  That's going to be a mess.

Thought Page looked good but not many balls thrown down field - Atl will be different

i agree....i dont think jackson had anything to do with it....the eagles are going to be a team that will struggle against the run at times no matter who the opposing back is

I don't want to see Vick making throws off his back foot like the TD to Pimp. He connected, yes, but more times than not that pass will be picked off. I think he got lucky.

Shady looks great, I feel we'll see a lot more runs like the big ones he was breaking today.

Vick looked good on some passes, not to good on others. I don't think he broke 50% for pass completiona. That should/needs to get better. He looked great running the ball though. Like he was gliding over the turf.

lol....he didnt do it just because he felt like it....there was a jailbreak on the play and he was under pressure....

and there was nothing lucky about that throw...the way he finessed it to a spot where he knew pimp was headed as opposed to trying to use his arm strength to fire it to pimp was a thing of absolute beauty

Agreed. I'd even go as far as to say that the run defense is a much bigger concern than the offensive line. Really thought the OL got stronger as the game went on. The only reason the run defense got better was that the Rams had to start passing more. I think that's how the Eagles plan to win a lot of games this year, though.

SunMo

OL did get better, but the Rams also stopped blitzing after Vick beat them a few times.  I focused on Herremans a few times and he really did well.

You could see what they liked in Kelce on that one toss sweep where he got out and ahead of the play and took out a linebacker.
