Lol at people comparing Holmes to Jackson. I'd pay Jackson a bunch more. One, he's younger, two never off field problems, and three Pump is a game change in multiple phases of the game. He's worth more than Holmes by quite a large margin, and taken as a whole he is obviously one of the top 5 most dynamic young players in the game. Cake him off, make him ridiculously happy for years.

i agree....even when he "disappears" hes still making the team better.....defensive coordinators are not game planning for santonio holmes

the one big difference tho is that holmes was a free agent....pimp is under contract....but still cake him off now so you dont get completely bludgeoned in the spring

The NFL pushed for August 9, and the NFLPA wanted the date to be, as specified in the Transition Rules proposed by the NFL, 23 days after the start of the 2011 League Year.

And the preferred deadline goes to . . . the NFL.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, players under contract must report by August 9 or forfeit a year of service toward free agency.

This means that Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson must report by August 9, or he won't be an unrestricted free agent in March 2012.  Although he'll complete the final year of his four-year contract if he shows up by Week 10 of the regular season, he'd have only three years of service — and he's be a restricted free agent.

Tim McManus just had an update saying the sides really aren't that far apart and that it's possible that Desean agrees to a contract that doesn't start until next season, meaning he's willing to play one year under this zesty deal as long as a new deal is guaranteed for him next season.
