gargano reporting that the sixers had two deals agreed upon btwn both teams that would been done cept the new owners nixed them

one was

iguodala for ellis

one was

iguodala for wes matthews and camby

We're already on bad terms

Rome

It goes without saying that if they turned down Monta Ellis for Iggy they're beyond stupid.

Camby is useless now but Wes Matthews by himself is well worth Iggy.

Too bad.

In other news...

http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/deep-sixer/Yahoo-Stefanski-leading-candidate-for-Toronto-position.html

Quote76ers general manager Ed Stefanski is one of three candidates for the Toronto Raptors' vacant GM position, Yahoo! Sports is reporting tonight. Yahoo! lists the other two candidates as Jeff Bower and Dennis Lindsey.

Stefanski is currently still under contract as the Sixers' general manager, but given the change in ownership, it's become clear that Stefanski is almost certainly out of a position with the Sixers. Stefanski has been given clearance to interview for other positions, one of which, Yahoo! is reporting, is the Raptors' spot

Just read some of the stuff out there about monta. Not good. He's always on bad teams for a reason
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

99% of america is generally really dumb when it comes to the nba

for example monta ellis would give the sixers the outside shooting they so crave....iguodala cant throw the ball into the ocean...blah blah blah...ect ect ect...

but what if i told you their career 3pt fg% was essentially even (as is their fg%)

the difference is monta is racing jet fighters with val kilmer where as iguodala has an all around game...monta avg over 5 shots more per...also he is a horrific defender

if people would just stick with that they iguodala and want him and his contract gone the world would be a much better place...but when morons who dont know the game come on and try to act like these trades would make the sixers a better team they just sound stupid

The big difference in their play on the court is that Ellis has an outside shot, Iguodala doesn't. The Sixers have lacked a player like Ellis for some time. A guy that can knock shots down from the outside. Iguodala relies on athleticism and often times takes bad shots to try to hide the fact that his outside shot is horrendus.

Aside from their play on the court, they need a change from Iguodala. I hate using the Abreu example because baseball and basketball are so much different but the similarities are there. In Iguodala's mind he thinks he's a legit NBA superstar, to the rest of the world he's maybe a #3 option on a good team. His time here is up, moving him is comparable to the Flyers moving Richards, only Iguodala's stay has lasted 3 years longer than it should have. This team won't take the next step while he's here.

theres many more differences than that but yes i would hope a two guard has a better outside shot than a forward

in tomorrows inky there is going to be an expose on harris....here are few quotes from it...

Quote
"I think his ease and casualness in the way he does things," said long-time friend Bippy Siegal of Raycliff Investments. "What I mean is, you'll be sitting and discussing a topic with him and he'll say, 'I don't quite understand that.' And then in five minutes, not only does he understand it, he knows more about it than you did and you studied it for 10 years. It's kind of a screwed-up skill to have. And it kind of bums me out."

...

"Is this a toy? No. There's just no way," said Scott Stewart, who attended HBS with Harris. "I can't see him treating this as a toy. He's a serious businessman and the way to be successful in this case in the NBA is to win NBA Championships. It's a very definitive and tangible goal. His seriousness and again his track record of success would lead you to believe that that's his ambition with the team: not only to win one, but win multiple."

...

"We were big fans," said Tony Ignaczak, who attended Wharton undergrad with Harris from 1982-86. "I don't specifically remember attending Sixers games, because tickets were expensive and as students we didn't have a lot of money, but we were clearly Philadelphia sports fans and that was a great era for Philadelphia basketball."
