- first off ff doesnt even really like or follow baseball. im still trying to figure out which angle hes going for. but yes, utleys knees arent what they used to be but he can still be an effective player. im not sure thats hard to figure out.

- i think you mean wednesday is an auto L and yes, to me, nothing screams unwinnable like cy young award winner ryan dempster on a hot afternoon in july. vance worley hasnt pitched well all year and the cubs are a playoff team, so thats over. no debate.

- lol @ the braves. theyve been within 3 or 2 for months and yet now they are creeping. punk bring it. like im afraid of them.

Wrong, and wrong. But I don't attempt or profess to know everything about everything. Too many teams, too many players, too many games. I'm not sure what the hell you mean by "effective player," but he's basically an average fielder and a below-average hitter at this point. Might as well platoon with Martinez or Valdez, and certainly shouldn't be the 3-hole hitter on the best team in baseball. At least he can still draw a walk!

Otherwise, I thoroughly enjoy your banter with your idol IGY. You do realize that you can never win, right?

he doesnt have enough PAs to qualify, but utley's .777 ops is 8th among second baseman in baseball, third in the NL.

out of all players he would be ranked 72nd out of roughly 158 who qualify. so even in terms of just players who have enough PAs hes above average, and obviously over the eons of utility players and bench players like valdez and martinez.

you do realize these stats take 10 seconds to look up? i would stick to google searching and facebook stalking if i were you.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Eagles_Legendz

Utley is still, at a minimum, the 3rd best offensive player on the team, behind Victorino and Howard.  Suggesting a platoon with Martinez or Valdez is awful.

You're not setting the bar very high the way these bums have been hitting.

ha agreed with that, but he is still lightyears better than Martinez/Valdez and is better than the rest of the lineup outside of those two.

I think we can all agree that Utley is not "light years" ahead of anyone anymore. That's the difference; he really used to be.

PhillyPhreak54

Jerry Crasnick said the Phils have called the Marlins about Leo Nunez and the Fish seek a young starter in return.

Looks like prickface is dead set on acquiring back of the bullpen guys.

hes light years ahead of valdez and martinez. yes.

and im IN for beltran, even if it means they settle on chad qualls as the bullpen help. this team needs a bat more than anything. and getting beltran means you can move victorino to 2nd...which gives you the kind of speed youd like at the top of the order.

Agreed. I hate him because he's a Met but he would help this team immensely.

Eagles_Legendz

Yep, I'd prefer Beltran to any bullpen help.  He fills a much bigger need.  Stutes is serviceable, and with the starters, Madson and basticho are enough most nights.  I'd like another arm, but Beltran is more useful.

Nope.  I still think Brown will be a good everyday player, and that isn't worth a half year of Beltran.
