one is a 23 year old kid who has never been a regular in the major leagues (and might never be) and one is a 15 year veteran who cant play without steroids...who do you think is going to get more criticism

you are missing the point...a player with no real expectations doesnt get judged like that...free passes apply to veterans only

you hope HOF learns this year and becomes a player next year but theres a very real chance he never becomes anything and there was zero chance he was going to contribute this year

and really ibanez hasnt even gotten killed...it more or less has been yup we know hes done...lets try and get by with him because there are no other options

im not expecting .300/30/100 but aside from one random hot streak hes been terrible. im not advocating they take him out the lineup, it just something worth mentioning. howard and utley werent this bad when they first came up, by the way.

i mean he probably should be out of the lineup and he isnt ready for the show yet but what is the other option...ben frank?...id rather HOF be getting ML at bats and learning...the problem is that thats fine for now when nothing matters but this kid is going to be completely embarrassed come the playoffs...at that point the better option would probably be the veteran in francisco...if a deal for a corner OF isnt made before then

but the notion that HOF could somehow be getting a free pass this year is retarded
