Yep, he created this persona right about when you say he did.  He tried to be a semi-serious poster, my guess is got sick of the shtein that was rightfully being thrown his way, and created this character.  I found it funny for the first post or two because it was so drastically different than how he had acted before and he had people biting at the bait he was throwing out, but he's godawful.
