They haven't really gone through a slump all year. it's tough to keep that level of play for an entire season, especially since they are not really a dominant team. They're deep with talent but not dominant with talent. I'd rather see them slump a little now than flame out down the stretch.

Exactly

Lulls are expected regardless of the team. And I'm not disagreeing with Lavy and Holmgren, but playing poorly and still managing to get points and stay on top is impressive. This team is built for the playoffs, that's why guys like Pronger are so valuable.

truly great teams dont go thru lulls...but like rjs said they arent a truly great team..no matter how much lavie and homer try and make them into one

lavie and homer!!

if you wanna be honest they arent a whole lot different than last year...last year they were an eight seed that could make the cup finals and this year they are a one seed that could lose in the first round

The Ottawa Senators?  Good farging god.  That third period sure was a hoot.

is there any doubt this team loses in the first round?

Starting to look that way.  They need to pick it up as they have a bunch of games coming up against teams that are out of the playoff hunt.

Yes. They're in a bad stretch right now, that doesn't mean this is how they'll play the rest of the season. You can't take the last 5 or 6 games and quantify that as how they've played all season. Saying "is there any doubt this team loses in the first round?" now is the equivalent of saying "is there any doubt this team wins the cup?" when they were blowing teams out 8-1.

eight teams will lose in the first round....only one will win the cup

Rome

Just an absolutely abysmal effort last night.  They played with no passion, no heart, no hunger.  Very troubling to say the least.
