he wont be back after this year but they arent making a change now

sixers will just try to let this thing die out
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Simmons listed ET (and Jrue) as honorable mentions in his annual trade value column. Jrue's description is less interesting than Turner's:

QuoteEvan Turner: Instead of mentioning Mount Bustmore (Kwame Brown, Darko Milicic, Hasheem Thabeet and Adam Morrison) every time we wonder if a high lottery pick might be a draft bust, I thought it would be easier to rename those four guys Kwarko Beetison, who absolutely sounds like someone Chris Wallace would have drafted. Anyway, Turner's Kwarko potential has dwindled to zero: He's contributing to an overachieving playoff team, he's had a few "I AM NOT UNAFRAID OF THIS MOMENT!" games, and he's the only draft pick since 2007 capable of submitting one of those wacky, Rondo-esque 12-17-15 box-score lines someday. Go on eBay, steal some of his rookie cards and thank me later.

Simmons may be a Boston douche who is awful on TV, but he watches a lot of NBA. I hope he's right.

ice grillin you

hes gonna be a good not great all around player for a long time

hell be fine...i love what hes been doing lately

simmons is cute and he does know hoops but thats only if he watches it and i find it hard to believe he has watched a (non celtic) sixer game this year

just as i couldnt make a really good judgement on how ed davis has been doing in toronto

unless what simmons is doing in that column is just repeating his thoughts on turner coming out of college..that would be fair as im sure he saw a good amount of him pre nba...but the way he comes off is that hes trying to make some sort of mid season revelation about turner that people would shock people and say "bill you so crazee"

Simmons has a radio show on Sirius that I listen to that is very good with some deep analysis on players. He nailed Turner perfectly the way he's been playing, so I have to believe this guy goes back and watches these games.

If not the whole game, I'm sure he'll take the core of the minutes that player played and make his judgements. I think Turner has been of the best transition players on the team right under Iguodala. He's very smart distributing the ball and rebounds extremely well.

ice grillin you

you dont have to watch turner play to see he has improved...you can read a box score or read an article in a philly paper or get a breakdown from your buddy in the philly media...the point is hes saying nothing new in that piece...admittedly tho we watch them every night and his articles are for people who dont

Simmons is a farging douche.   He has some snotty intern do his research for him then he strings a few paragraphs together.

I find Simmons to be far more entertaining then your generic ESPN writer, but you have to know what you're getting into with him.  He's always going to have some arrogant Boston slant on things, but he still pieces together some funny lines in his columns.

Agree. I like him.

Dude does say some funny shtein-not to mention there arent too many people out there in the media that has a love for the game like he does. It has nothing to do with box scores or interns or whatever... he knows the players and the game very well.

Matter of fact he put David Stern in his place the other day regarding the NBA's purchase of the New Orlean Hornets on the radio, and you can tell by the way Stern was reacting that he has some respect for Simmons.

PhillyPhreak54

What channel is he on, Reese?

I'm a Simmons fan. Love reading his hoops analysis and he talks gambling a lot too.

My one beef with him is sometimes he goes too far off into pop culture land for my taste. I don't give two fargs about Jersey Shore or any of the reality crap he spins into his columns.

ET will be good - not great. A useful and helpful piece but never the star.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

QB Eagles

I enjoyed how Snow tried in vain to relate his sleeping to an NBA player looking for that elusive "burst of energy" late in a game. That didn't sound forced at all.

Looks like CSN took down the video. Considering all the shtein they don't take down, I guess they made a move because it portayed a negative aspect of their broadcast.

As for Simmons, another plus in his corner is his frequent discussion of sports gambling, especially NFL betting. He's one of the few columnists who admits the centrality of betting to sports, and makes it a centerpiece of his columns as well. I'm glad ESPN doesn't make him censor that shtein to maintain their cozy relationship with the leagues, as I enjoy the line-guessing bits he does with his Cousin Sal during the NFL season.
