i would argue that industrial sized slaughter houses are as bad or worse than anything any of vicks people did to those ...the difference in the two is that dogs are pets and people are stupid

You're exactly right  and anyone who says there is a difference has never been to a slaughterhouse or a farm were steers are butchered. How about the kosher slaughter houses like Rubashkin's in Nebraska? They stick the steers head through a hole in the wall and the other side has a big clamp that holds the steers head up for easy access to it's neck, and then the butcher takes a huge knife and slices the steers neck so the blood drains all out before they butcher it. If you think you have a strong stomach, youtube anything about a slaughterhouse.

Mark Buehrle should think about something like that before eating a cheeseburger and then wishing injury on Vick.

The livestock question is a great one.  Same difference, right?

Not to me.

The suffering experienced by livestock at wholesale slaughter houses is real, I grant that, but it is also not intended.  It's a by-product of the job at hand, which is to kill animals.

Though killing dogs is not the point of dog fighting, it is part of the gig.   Think of it this way:  killing fighting dogs is kind of like killing race horses.  If you're gonna race horses, you're gonna have to kill some horses.   So the fact that dogs are getting killed is a by product of the enterprise.

So far so good.

But what Vick did was not just part of the business.  He tortured dogs to death, by a variety of methods.  It took imagination and extra energy to kill them the way that he did.  The only reason I can fathom for doing that is that it pleased him to cause them pain.  Made him feel in control or something.  That's disturbing.

If a guy at a slaughterhouse was found to be killing livestock with cordless drills and pitchforks, I'd be just as repulsed.  It's the pathology that's so horrifying, not the actual deeds.

Meh.  He served his time.  I wish him well.

Bunch of goddamn philosophers up in here.

Pretty much. It's why everyone remembers Hitler killing 6 million jews but a lot of Americas forget Joe Steel killing 40 million of his own people. Cause he wasn't going out of his way to find new and interesting methods to do it.

Vick did his time, it's time to move on now. I love dogs probably more than anyone else here and I never gave a farg about what he did when he signed here. Nothing you can do to change it.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

So now we are comparing slaughterhouses to Vicks actions. Jesus christ.

This CBA thing needs to get straightened out quick.

lol...its not intended...what its by accident?

there are probably 100 ways to humanely kill livestock in order to produce food...instead for nothing more than profit they choose some of the most horrific ways to do it....do i care...no i dont...but lets not pretend that it isnt just as bad if not worse than what vicks peoples did and its on an infinitely larger scale

this isnt about intent and you are fooling yourself if you think it is...its all about a house pet dying rather than a farm or wild animal...of course a young cocky rich black kid behind the whole thing is a big issue as well but we dont need to get into that

You would bring race into it.

Whoever did this would be getting his image raped no matter what his race is. Just look at Big Ben. Dude didn't even get convicted and people call him a rapist and wish harm on him.

mussa

There are people alive both today and in the past that have done much, much worse to animals both domestic and wild since man started walking upright. Just because he's a celebrity in a dog loving nation doesn't mean he's any different than what we all have inside us. He is human. Now please, STFU.
