I really had no clue what the movie was about before seeing it, I saw the trailer on tv and thought, wow special effects look really awesome

an adult seeing a movie for cool special effects is as nerdy as it gets

LMFAO at someone that is an amateur weatherman calling anything nerdy.

oh im a nerd...but im a nerd about things like sports and noreasters...not imaginary cgi goblins

theres nothing wrong with being nerdy...and i never said there was...

i was simply stating that movie going nerds are one of the most powerful nerd constituencies on the planet...and knowing absolutely nothing about a movie but still going to see it because the special effects looked cool is someone who is at the top of their nerd game....kudos to you all

Sam/Frodo dialogue is a little homoerotic at spots, though it's faithful to the source material.

The movies are incredibly well done, though, and the two major fight scenes at the end of the 2nd and 3rd movies are pretty much unparalleled in my opinion.

to each his own and like sd said they arent for everyone but i just cant get into an almost all cgi fight scene...ill take something like braveheart or  storming the beach at normandy private ryan anyday over that lord of the rings stuff

Watched Wall-E last night. Incredibly good. I'm not sure how Pixar continues to create top notch cartoon movies with stories that can appeal to people of all ages while live action studios and directors are so hit or miss. So good.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

Watched Inception again last night. REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY GOOD. That is all. 6/5.

saw The Fighter over the weekend.  good, enjoyable movie.  don't think it should win an oscar, but whatever.  like everyone else has said, Bale was really good.  Amy Adams was hot.  the broads playing Micky Ward's family were awful.

Don't know if you've seen Up yet, but I recommend it. That and Wall-E have become two of my favorite movies.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Toy story rules! (So do the o'Doyles)  if I was a kid....i'd have a kid sized chub for those movies all the time.

Toy Story was great, but Disney wouldn't stop and kept making sequels.  I haven't seen either sequel but I can't imagine that they are any good.  Other than that, Pixar is really good about the quality of the movies they put out.  If you can't enjoy their movies then you don't have a soul.

MDS

both sequels are actually fantastic and better than the first. the reviews have been off the charts for each. how...didnt you know this.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Yep, all 3 Toy Story movies are great.  The last one was really good.  First animated movie I've seen in the theaters in a while.

So... 2 sequels over 16 years is "kept making sequels"?

Drunkmasterflex

I have never watched any of those movies, just doesn't appeal to me.

Finally watched Up in the Air the other night, I didn't go in with many expectations.  I have to say that I thought it was a great movie and worth all the praise and hype it received.

not to mention toy story 3 is considered better than the original and arguably the best "animated" movie ever

and toy story 2 was very well praised
