The world would be a better place, on average, if everyone here were dead.

QuoteThe Philadelphia Eagles' defense has suffered a significant blow for Sunday's game against the Bears.

The team has confirmed that cornerback Asante Samuel has been ruled out with a sprained MCL and isn't making the trip to Chicago. Joselio Hanson will start in his place.

If he's going to miss a game, this is probably the one to miss. The Bears receivers don't scare me. What does scare me though is whether or not McDermott will be able to put together a nice game plan to compensate for the loss.

Eagaholic

That's where I  miss JJ, he was really good at covering up weaknesses. Somebody get McDermott a oiuja board.

DH

enough with the jj shtein already..if hanson isn't ready to play tomorrow it's his fault - not mcdermotts, nor would jj have any way of changing that.

Sgt PSN

I think Hanson is a fine player and will be ready to go. However, now you've got 2 starting corners who weren't starting a month ago and because of that, there's less depth in nickel and dime packages. That's the part that worries me....can these other guys step up and can McDermott implement an effective game plan with guys who don't get much run on the field.

PS....I miss JJ.

DH

this kinda shtein happens to every team, every year. I know they're 2-9, but the bengals had a guy playing corner on thursday night who they just picked up on Monday, and he played damn well. losing asante won't have nearly the impact that losing a guy on the dline would have..as long as there is constant pressure on cutler, it doesn't matter who you have back there.

with or without 22, eagles win this one easily.

Eagaholic

Very few teams can get constant pressure on a qb. Are you saying DCs don't matter?

MMH

The Eagles DL are good enough to penetrate Chicago's brutally awful line.  Cutler's been a punching bag all season, and their run game isn't very good.

when playing against a qb like cutler, the defensive gameplan should be an easy one, making the dc fairly inconsequential

I look forward to seeing if Trevard Lindley can make some more plays.  He's a gamer.

.........the WR suck, probably vying for the worst in the league

Where do they stand amongst the likes of Thrash and Pinkston? Or those guys the Eagles had in McNabbs first year who really, really sucked and whose names I can't seem to remember considering the fact that I will never ever look anything up when there are people to do it around.

So what's the depth chart look like now at CB?  After Lindley?  Will Hughes be activated?
