Durbin may actually be back because he probably cost himself some $$ with the playoff choke job.  The Phils will basically be filling in the middle bullpen with clearance rack scrubs, and he may fit that bill.

Is there ANYONE on the farm right now that could come in next year and be a solid contributor to the BP?

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

By "on the farm" do you mean grazing?  If so then Zagurski.

P.S.  I am still ignoring you but it shows your post when I hit reply.  Rape basement.

Ryan Howard took a good-natured jab at those fickle fans in baseball-crazy Philadelphia.

"Hopefully there's no riots taking place back in Philly," he joked of his new mega deal.

Get used to it, City of Brotherly Love. This guy's going to be around for a while.

The slugging first baseman agreed to a $125 million, five-year contract extension Monday that could keep him with the Phillies until 2017

one additional note....i believe choke was in san francisco when he signed his awesome contract

the replay of howards potential last pitch of the year as he looked right at it going into the catchers glove just keeps playing and playing and playing over in my mind.

it really is stunning.

I will be haunted by that image for a very long time.  Right up there with Rhonde Barber.

This will cheer you up:

"Did I ever find my swing?" he (Howard) said, repeating the question.

"My swing never left."

Your manager said it did, he was told.

"Um, I guess I didn't find it then," he said, a mocking tone in his voice. "I mean if you hit 31 home runs and 108 RBIs, you must have found something."

Yes, you found Pat Burrell. I'm glad that Ryan Howard can put up Pat Burrell numbers.

Why oh why didn't Manuel bat Sweeney in Francisco's spot?

i literally said the exact same words to my buddy yesterday during the eagles game.  we were talking about the key spots/failures in the series and that ranks right up at the top for me.

Holy shtein that's right out of the McNabb handbook.  That's trouble.
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Reading things like that makes me cringe.

Howard should have swung and that will forever haunt me, but...

that was a hell of a pitch
