I can't imagine a feeling more glorious than watching one of my teams win a championship especially considering how infrequent those wins have been in my life.

When the Phillies won two years ago it literally changed my perspective on sports.  I'm still the same bitter and cynical prick I was before they won, but in that facet of my life, it was like a gigantic boulder was lifted from my shoulders.

I know it sounds pathetic and it probably is but the teams I cheer for are like family to me and when they win it's farging incredible.

Pretty much. I was 8.5 months pregnant and sat in front of my TV in tears after Lidge threw that strike. And yes, MURP and our daughter laughed at me. I couldn't contain my emotions. I'm still bitter and cynical....but I think that World Series was amazing. It makes me look back at ALL of those years of waiting and think it might have just been worth it. You can't appreciate it like we did if you're a Yankees fan who won almost every farging year in the 90s. How do you appreciate it when it becomes a yearly event? I still remember like 2 weeks later hearing "We Are the Champions" on the radio and thinking, "Holy shtein....we really ARE!"  :-D

Here are my thoughts:

- Sometimes I look at my nerd friends who don't care about sports and I think that they've got the right idea. Why the farg do I put myself through this shtein every single year for two teams (Eagles Flyers) that do nothing but break my heart and smash my faith? Is it really worth it? Of course, it doesn't matter if it's worth it because I've obsessed about Philly teams since I was a goddamned infant and there's no chance of it ever going away, but I do wonder what it would be like to not have this bullshtein hanging over me from September to June every year.

I really felt like that after the 08-09 season. After the loss to the Cards. I stayed away from everything Eagles related the whole off season. I hate what it puts me through. I hate that it's what I have to rely on as my distraction from work, school, fiancée, or whatever else pisses me off in life. Every Sept I am back with a sense of optimism that this might be IT.

I wish I was into baseball so I could join in on the Phillies fun.

Why does Avant fall after every catch? At first I thought it was McNabb throwing at his feet or over his head but yesterday Kolb threw him a couple of passes right on the #, he catches it, but he falls right down.

Phillies 08 was the best sports event for an entire of generation of Philly area people who had lived for 20-25 years and had never seen, let alone been alive for, a Philly sports championship. No one I knew, knew how to react other than running down broad street screaming. It was incredible.

I really, REALLY don't want to wait that long for the next time I get to feel that again...but if I do, I know it'll be amazing, and worth the wait.

If the Eagles ever win a SB, I'm relatively sure I'll cry. I love the Phillies and Flyers, but not like the Eagles. Outside of a few personal accomplishments like kids, marriage, etc...I can't imagine there being a happier day in my life then the day the Eagles finally win the Super Bowl. Yes, it's sad and pathetic that sports have that much of an effect on any of our lives, but who gives a farg. Like Romey said, when you spend your entire life cheering for a team, it starts to feel like family. And as corny as it is, it tends to bring your real friends and family together too. Even if it is in a rape basement.

oh for petes sake - why the suprise...when haven't the eagles blown the "big" moments? From plunkett to fogbowl to closing of the vet to the SB to every motherfarging game when its all on the farging line or the whole nation is watching?? farg, philadelphins wouldn't trust their own mother with even the valet key to the car but routinely get heart and soul ripped out time and again because every sunday they entrust their emotional well being a fat Mormon slob who cant tell time and a front office populated by fantasy league amateurs??

seriously of all demographic oddities of a population thats the one farging piece that makes no sense. and if past is motherfarging prologue then we get ready for another eight years of wandering in the farging wilderness before getting hopes up again. shtein GF will have had this site near 20 years by then...

farging vick or kobb - right now agonizing either one is rearranging deck chairs on the farging titanic as long as fat-boy and green-eyshade are running things.

it was a totally winnable game, bottom line. players came up small and coaches came up stupid in big moments.

and reid's gonna work to get better at that and put the players in better positions to win.

phillies will be under 500 this year...book it

ice grillin you

quinton mikell was fantastic on gonzalez yesterday...yeah he had the two td's but he blanketed him the entire game up and down the field...it was interesting to see how much mcdermott had him on the line of scrimmage...it was at least 75% of the time...it showed a ton of faith in nate allen as he was left alone out in centerfield

good cobb - he made all the throws yesterday including some he has yet to unleash...if the td pass to macklin (the one in the south end zone) didn alleviate anyones arm strength concerns nothing will...he also had a couple deep outs...one to macklin in particular showed that he def has the zip....these are important throws because they will show up on opponents film and make them respect all of the field....dook will never have the zip of a mcnabb farve or even peyton but he clearly has the arm to win in this league (not that it wasnt obvious before)

bad cobb - single handedly almost got pimp killed....and it wasnt so much the throw but how long he took to make it...you cant wait that long then under pressure try to connect on a crossing route...throw it out of bounds take the sack or hell throw it as deep as you can up for grabs

bradley had a nice comeback game

the play action and misdirection was wonderful yesterday and greatly helped the oline...rip andy when he does awful (which is often)....but credit him yesterday for a great game plan

trevor laws is becoming a good nfl player...he will never be anything special but hes had a good year and has probably made more plays than bunkley and patterson combined

eagles are an excellent +7 in turnover ratio which has cancelled out the hideousness of the oline

im not saying the eagles are going to the playoffs yet because their last nine games are brutal but at the same time the nfc sucks so bad...its probably the worst its ever been...and its had some really down years lately
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

Kolb played fantastic and showed some very nice accuracy, but my god I dont think he was pressured once all game. The play by the o-line yesterday was a mirage until real pressure is brought. The Falcons d-coordinator farged this game up, so good for them.

Not to mention, I'm not too sure why the Falcons would play a cover 2 all game like that, dropping those LB's, with not an ounce of blitzing. You would think after Kolb was shredding them over the top that you might want to switch it up a bit. Very easy adjustment for the eagles coaches there to keep running those same routes, so good recognition

This wasnt that surprising of a win because Matt Ryan never lights anyone up. He's a very good game manager with usually an even split in run/pass ratio. You contain R. White, you got the best shot of winning...and I thought Asante did a pretty good job.

Next week...Tennessee can get to the qb, as I think they are one of the leaders in sacks this year. You want to really see where Kolb is, you let him play on the road in Tennessee. He wont have Jackson and roll coverage will now be shifted to Maclin so its going to be a huge challenge for him....but if he is your franchise guy you let him play with that kind of adversity since Vick is not 100% anyway.

And it still might be the best division in the NFC, which speaks to how horrible the NFC is this year.

Regarding this, I'm not saying the Eagles are a great team, but is there any team in the NFC you say to yourself "they have no chance against them". It's pretty even throughout with no dominant team.
