no question he intended to go with Kolb until Lurie called/walked into the room

you dont make an emphatic statement like that than flip that quick if you werent pulled in another direction from the heads above you.

Yep - the real significance of the past few days is that it marks the beginning of the end of reid. Not next week or even next month, but soon and it will come as shock and surprise. There will be fake man love all around at the pc about all the great years and well wishes and that it was mutual. They'll mumble about Andy wanting to take time to focus on family.

Yet the backstory is now the "smart guys" upstairs want to call the shots and will run him out of town. They'll secretly applaud the media and the townfolks wielding torches and pitchforks to continue twisting the knife. (Which they're doing gleefully.) They'll then install a staff coach as interim until a new coach can be introduced that will be the result of their carefully considered "brilliance". (But it won't be who the team needs, it'll be another "smart-guy-gem-in-the-rough" coach pick. Andy will not spend a day with his family and will be employed right away.

Like cobb, andy in now the one on the short leash and the FO is on the clock. Uncertainty of next year adds to the timing being right when the wheels come off later this fall. Only thing stopping it is a deep playoff run and both camps know it. Watch as much as you can this fall - it's now an accelerated translational period and the ride will be if nothing very entertaining.
Endless regression to the mean

Unless its the other way around and Lurie, Banner, and Howie waned Kolb to play out the season and Reid wants to play Vick and win now. Could be since apparently Reid didn't want to trade McNabb to begin with.

fwiw r diddy is on wip saying that he believes andy fully intended to go with kolb...then returned to philly and had the roundtable with banner inc. where it was one way or another decided to go with vick

I don't doubt that at all.  And honestly, I really don't understand why everyone is killing Reid for changing his mind.  Does anyone here really think that Reid doesn't want to start Kolb.  There's only 1 thing Reid wants more than to play Kolb and for him to be successful and that's to keep Kolb alive.....which won't happen if he plays behind that farging boy band fronting as an o-line.  I wouldn't be surprised at all if Reid looked at the tape and realized that Kolb will get slaughtered back there and opted to go with Vick.  They've got a lot more invested in Kolb than Vick and they aren't going to risk serious injury to Kolb in what everyone already knows is a lost season.

I don't buy it. I lean towards him either simply changing his mind or him wanting Vick and Howie and company wanting Kolb.

Help me understand the furor over him changing his mind though; so what if he said Kolb was the QB and then flipped to Vick?

I agree. It's plausible that Reid, who can't think on his feet and didn't have media timeouts to burn, probably just said Kolb was the guy as a thoughtless don't-create-a-controversy reflex. Mush brain needs a long time to think things through, who knows if Howie influenced the decision.

Speaking of which, how is The Cuz handling this? Wasn't he deep into the Kolb lovin'?

Oh yeah.  He loves him some Kolb. The cuz was not happy when all this went down.  He ripped on Andy, and you could tell he wanted to say more but was toning it down for the radio.

as I stated before, I dont believe this for a second because the hype around kevin kolb was about his quick release, accuracy and grasp of the offense after 3 years...not to mention the only way you get "playing" experience is to actually play the game no matter the circumstance

what does reid think Kolb should be in the pocket chilling out talking to his mom on his cell phone before he throws the ball? welcome to the nfl kevin kolb. you're going to have pressure from all angles, you're going to be throwing on the run, and you have to learn on the fly. not to mention does reid think they are going to have an all-pro o-line next year that will suit him anyway? cmon....what better way than to learn than to sit on the bench once again

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

You can be Belicheck and be the head coach and both coordinators all in one.
