My only point is that it's better than the way it was done against the Packers.

I'm sure there's copious discussion about this someplace I haven't looked yet...but I'm having trouble getting totally behind the Vick starting thing. I think it makes sense in the short term, but creates a host of problems beyond the season. More than that, I really think that it speaks to the state of the offensive line more than it does the ability of either QB. In other words, Vick has a better chance to live and make something happen behind the sieve.

I've said (with about a billion other people) that the Eagles will do as well as the line allows them to do. So far, the answer is "not very well." I'm having a hard time believing that the Eagles are going to do a whole hell of a lot this year...and a comeback win against the Lions doesn't change that. If that's the case, I think it would be a good thing to get Kolb the reps...then again, that whole no-line thing throws a wrench into that philosophy.

But going with Vick doesn't change what I think the team will accomplish this year, and it sets up soap-opera drama for the offseason. And when they go with Kolb again next year (which I think probably happens), he won't be any further along....but a year older.

Of course, most of this is likely sour grapes due to being forced to root for Vick, who I argued was an overrated douche even before the dog thing. I also had Kolb as a backup on my fantasy team, which is a downer. So, there's that.

the only way you can truly be upset with the vick move is if you thought cobb was going to be a player....and i dont know anyone who thought that...i know there were some who thought he had a chance but very few who even thought he would be good much less great

even if cobb played this year theres at best a 30% chance he ever becomes a good starting nfl qb...other than a couple decent games last year he has looked like complete garbage since he was drafted

i personally would throw cobb out there and let him sink or swim....troy aikman went 1-15 behind a far worse offensive line than what the eagles have now and he ended up winning superbowls...which is why its laughable that people would believe the offensive line is behind this decision...vick is playing because hes better than cobb and/or cobb is not ready yet to be an nfl qb behind any line

I don't think you're entirely wrong...but the o-line thing is absolutely a factor. Vick can get away, survive and make something out of nothing; therefore, he has the better chance. That said, I'd still play Kolb to see what he has; I'm with you there.

The issue is that the Eagles decision makers can't stand the idea of a rebuilding year. Andy Reid won't even acknowledge that such a thing exists. Why throw the young QB to the wolves to sink or swim when you can go 10-6 and lose in the first round of the playoffs? They don't get the big picture. SUper Bowls are all that matters and this decision does nothing to bring the team closer to that end.

i think the eagles just happen to have a running qb and a terrible offensive line

i dont think the running qb is playing because of the terrible offensive line

hes playing because hes better and they want the better player in the game

if vicks qb rating right now was 85 instead of 105 cobb would be behind the same terrible line

as i mentioned last ngiht the line has been brutal since the bengal game and yet cobb started the opener...and thats because they didnt know how good vick would be

But that's only because you don't see shades of gray.

if sam bradford is the eagles qb he is starting this week....stl line is as bad or worse than the eagles and yet hes been fine

qb's dont get benched because of offensive lines...there are to many examples of young qb's playing thru terrible lines to even cite...qb's get benched because they arent playing well or cant play

also the notion that vick is avoiding tons of sacks is a misnomer...det sacked him six times...yes he can get away from one or two that cobb cant......but cobb is supposed to be able to get the ball out quickly and do it better than vick and if he was doing that he would be playing

this isnt about the line at all...its about vick playing well and cobb sucking...if it was about the line at all cobb wouldnt have started against green bay because the line was a disaster then

The line was a disaster, but they were hoping it was going to gel. It didn't, and then even that was compounded by injuries. Not only is it worse now, there really isn't even the illusion of hope that there was before.

PoopyfaceMcGee

I'm not totally behind the move or anything.  I'm just surprised and impressed that Reid isn't stubbornly ignoring the level of Vick's play.  I'll figure out if I like the decision later.  Or maybe I'll just keep getting caked off by the Eagles not covering spreads.

im steadily against it AND for it

i think cobb needs to sink or swim and i dont even fully believe in vick as a qb but at the same time i absolutely love watching vick and i highly doubt cobb ever becomes a good quarterback so i cant be too mad
