BTW Ed Schultz (until 2000) was a low tax, small government guy but couldn't break into the big time... so he changed sides...what a hoot...now that's a man of character LOL.

so changing views is a bad character trait?

Typically not....hell, I have almost none of the same views and opinions today that I did 10 years ago and I think I'm better off because of it.  But I think what 61 was saying is that Schultz didn't change his views because he suddenly started believing something different, but that he changed them striclty in the name of career advancement.

ice grillin you

he wasnt saying that...or if he was he was way offbase...because as 61 pointed out his views changed in 2000

yet he didnt change jobs until 2008 when he got his tv show

ed shultz even now isnt exactly a household name much less in 2000 to the point where msnbc was clamoring for him if only he would switch views...if he was that hot he could have went to fox and not changed views

but for sake of argument even if he had done this in the name of career advancement how would that have made him a bad person

It's just the way I interprited it.  I could be way off as well.  But for the sake of arguing with you, he didn't say he was a bad person, just criticizing his character.  And if you change your beliefs simply for personal gain (in which case, you aren't really changing your beliefs, just changing what you want people to think you believe in), then I'd say that it shows a tremendous lack of character.  Take all these anti-gay congressmen who keep getting busted with their weekend boy toys.......they are clearly gay and deep down inside, they must want to live in a country where sexual preference doesn't matter, but they present themselves as anti-gay because they know it appeals to a large portion of the voting population.

There's nothing wrong with changing your beliefs as long as they are YOUR beliefs and you're not changing them simply because they might be unpopular.

right wing people like pretending left wing pundits have power

what olbermann, maher, schultz, etc. say dont matter. what beck, limbaugh, hannity, o'reilly say does. the difference is we're not idiot sheep.

I spent 25 minutes talking to a candidate for state house of rep in my district today.  Smart guy.  Young, 29 years.  Running with no money or power structure behind him.  He's got no chance but he gets my vote anyone.  Having no chance is a sign you're worth looking into and possibly voting for in my world.

id say you were throwing away your vote, but any vote is throwing away your vote. so, go for it.

He's an intelligent college educated 29 year old black guy from Baltimore.  Some things you don't have to ask.
