With the OS update, I'm having more stuff crash on me than ever before. Pandora, for one.   :boom

SunMo

the people that are having trouble with the new OS, are you all 3G iphones or do you have the new one?

pretty sure we're all 3G, which is the problem.

oh ok...my girl is looking to get a 4G and didn't like the stories i was telling her about the new OS

To be clear you have the only "4G" phone available.  The new iPhone 4 is the "4th generation" iPhone but does not offer any faster data speeds than the 3rd generation iPhone.

the only problem with the new 4g iphone is that you can't hold it.

The bumper will help the reception thing.

As far as the other ios4 thing. Two things will help you out, make sure your apps are updated (any pre ios4 apps can crash). And second, physically turn off the phone periodically, shut down for about 3 or 4 minutes and then restart it.

The multitasking is causing the biggest slowdown and there's no way to "quit" any app, you you could have potentially too many apps running in the back, so physically restarting it once in a while has improved my usage, and many of my clients usage as well.

I'll give that one a try, charlie. I did power cycle the thing, but I didn't leave it off for a long time.

The pandora support folks want me to do something like sync the phone, remove the app in itunes, on the phone, resync the phone, reinstall the app, and resync the phone again. F that. Maybe when I have half a day to spare babysitting the process.

Work finally hooked me up with one today. A 3GS....I just set iTunes up. This is my first foray into the world of Apple crap, so I may have questions. But I see WIP is on there.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

First thing you need to do if you haven't already is update to the latest operating system....OS 4.1.2 or some ish like that.  It gives you a lot of the functions and features that are available on the iPhone 4.  There's a lot of free apps out there that are great.  I've got probably 100 apps for my phone and I think I've paid for maybe 5 at most.  Here's some of the ones that I use most often:

ESPN Score Center (free) - Allows you to set up favorite teams and sports and pushes scoring updates to you based on your preferences.

ESPN Radio ($3) - Pretty self explanitory.

97.5 Fanatic (free) - ESPN Philly

Yahoo Fantasy Football (free)

Google Earth (free)

Google Mobile (free)

Facebook (free)

PayPal (free)

Bump (free) - This is the app that allows iPhone users to be supreme douche bags and exchange contact info/pics/etc buy touching tips phones.

myCar Park (free) - Tells you where you parked your car if you're a dumb poopy face who can't remember where you parked your car.

Wi Fi Finder (free) - Finds Wi Fi hot spots in your area.

AAA Roadside (free) - Probably not a good app if you don't have AAA.  Great app if you do....and if your car broke down.

Currency Converter (free)

iTranslate (free) - Down load this app and you'll finally know what your g/f is really saying to you.

Trapster (free) - Alerts you to speed traps/police citings in your vacinity.  Only works with user input though so if there's a speed trap on the route you are driving along and no one else inputs it into Trapster, then you won't get notified.

ShopSavvy (free) - Bar code scanner so if you're shopping for a new tv or something, scan the bar code with the camera on your phone and it will find prices for that item from local and web based vendors.  Most stores will recognize the prices listed as long as they are from other local retail stores and not just the web.

Groupon (free) - Another site that requires other users to really make it work.  In short, you get notified of some great deal each day.....discounted hotel room or cheap movie tickets or whatever.....but a certain number of people have to register for it in order to actually work.  Still, it requires pretty much no work on your part and occasionally you'll save a few bucks on shtein.

Pandora (free)

Netflix (free) - requires a Netflix account.  Stream movies and tv shows that are available for instant view to your phone.

PoopyfaceMcGee

DoucheTony (free) - Your phone will curse at you, swig Maker's Mark, and force you to try decade-old MRE's.  Then it will take the kids to Disneyland and secks your Peruvian girlfriend.
