just more of the same tiresome plantation-slave rhetoric from rhoden.

yawn.

theres absolutely no reason the nfl couldnt mirror what college does

spring practice = ota's

summer practice aug 1 = training camp

no preseason games

we know money wont allow this to happen but thats how it should be

preseason could be made using scrimmages at the practices and not charging for regular prices.  But it is what it is

so this whole thing is for 2 preseason games and the revenue they make off it
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

the preseason ripoff thing is so stupid.  look, you buy 10 games and pay 850 bucks for them.  either you spread it out to 85 a piece or you charge 100 each for eight regular season games and 50 for the two preseason.  either way you're still spending 850, so get over it.

as far as training camp goes, it's absolutely essential.  there's no two ways about it and only an ignorant non-athlete with an agenda would suggest otherwise.

PhillyPhreak54

Agreed.

Camp is a must.

And I would argue that at least two PS games are a must too.

Unless you develop a minor league system to evaluate players.

Football games that don't count are worthless.

It's like watching a boxing match where neither man's record is updated to reflect the result.

Why bother.

the article makes one point... training camp probably isnt necessary for most 40 year-old hall of famers. everyone else needs to get out there to at least make sure they are in sync with everyone else.

Pretty good Eagles representation.  Although...

Westbrook > Bettis
Bednarik > Graham
Brown > Sapp

Obviously.

Really?

Westbrook was certainly more dynamic and exciting to watch than Bettis, but there's something to be said about Bettis' durability to be that big, carry the ball as many times as he did and be extremely successful in the process.  30+ years from now, younger football fans will know who Jerome Bettis was but it'll pretty much only be Eagles fans who know about Westbrook.

Normally I'd be in favor of giving a QB the nod over a linebacker but since Graham is already on the list at #14, I'd have left him out of the discussion for #60.  Especially when you consider that he wore both numbers about the same amount of time.

Brown probably would have been the best DT of all time if he knew how to drive better.  And as much as I can't stand Sapp, the simple fact that he had a lengthy career puts him ahead of JB.

I also noticed that Jaws didn't get any love at #7.  Not that I think he should have been the winner, because Elway is the runaway choice there.  But he's not even mentioned in the "Worthy of Consideration" section.  But Mike Vick is.  ha!

Simma down.  I was just being homertastic.

Some of the "considered" choices were downright awful.

Where's '64 when you need him?
