In other news, it's just as dangerous to other people as well.  My blood pressure goes thru the roof every time I have Giganto sitting in my airplane/train/bus/subway seat with me.

We just need to drum up a witch hunt, find some tangential negative affect on the rest of us, and we can run these people out of every public and private space except their homes.  It's the American way.

And oh yeah, tax them heavily.

That would be much better than the current methodology of trying to control what kind of food can be served at McDonalds.

The tangential and tangible negative affect is how sumo-ugs raise health insurance rates because of the care they need.

That argument suffers from the same fatal flaw that it did regarding health care costs for smokers:  since fat people die a lot sooner, they actually cost us all less in the long run.  A few knee replacements and diabetes drugs followed by death at 60 is cheaper than an extra 25 years of old person medicine, hip replacements, etc.

i smoke a lot again. yay.

if most smokers werent whiney douches and had some intestinal fortitude they wouldnt frequent restaurants and bars that ban smoking...and once that happened youd see smoking laws go bye bye with the quickness

So the douche who whines about smokers and smoking is calling smokers whiney douches. Got it.

It's the same methodology behind the TEA party responding to the NAACP by calling them racists.

I read somewhere that while smokers hang out longer, non smokers spend more money. And a good number of communities that have banned smoking at all restaurants have seen more traffic in their establishments overall.

I don't care about it either way, but it was interesting to see the findings a year or two after the bans in place.
