The BIGSTUD

If you are going to kill him for trading Lee and use that as a knock against him, then you have to praise him for making the acquisition last season for prospects that have been busts for Cleveland. Without that trade by Amaro, this team does not get back to the World Series.

Getting rid of him was dumb, but there simply isn't an intelligent person who can say he's done a poor job. If someone does I'm going to have to call them out and present facts that they don't have the ability to argue against.

That is directly calling anyone who wants to debate it out by the way ;)
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

Gillick and Amaro are ridiculously overrated on a sickening level. But whatever.

I was watching some highlights or some shtein at some bar tonight, and it hit me, 10-15 years from now we're gonna be talking about these years as the glory years in Phillies history.

How is Gillick overrated? He built the championship team.

Amaro is just a jerk who stupidly traded away Cliff Lee.

Ed Wade built the team, granted it took him 8 years, but he built it. Gillick's moves were just tweaks. He made a ton of boneheaded moves like trading two good prospects for Freddie Garcia, signing Barajas to a two year deal, signing Eaton to a 3 year deal, signing Geoff Jenkins to a 2 year deal. I'm sure there's more shtein I'm forgetting but those are the 4 major farg ups.

And Amaro's an idiot for gutting a rich farm system and not holding onto the pieces. He should rightfully be the one getting criticized for the Lee trade because he said it was a baseball decision.

i enjoy reading the responses in this thread more than anything else in this forum.  the hysterics from some of you are similar to those of 14 year-old girls when talking about twilight vampires but in a good way.

the phillies are going to get healthy and they're going to get into the playoffs again.  even with chase & polly being out they're still the class of the division if not the national league.

bank on it.

Season's over.  Time to move on.

ccording to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com, the Phillies are targeting Dan Haren of the Diamondbacks.

Interesting. According to Crasnick, the Diamondbacks are out scouting Phillies prospects for a possible trade. Haren, who turns 30 in September, is in the second year of a four-year, $44.75 million contract. He is owed $12.75 million over each of the next two seasons. His contract includes a $15.5 million club option for 2013. It's not known who the Diamondbacks may be interested in, but if they can't get Domonic Brown, Jarred Cosart and Jonathan Singleton would probably be near the top of their list.

Haren's had a rough year but he's still a good pitcher, and lol at them thinking the Phillies would part with HOF Brown for him. If Amaro makes that trade I hope fans stone him to death.

Haren only makes 500k more than Lee this year and somewhere in the range of $12M+ the next two years.  that's a very affordable contract for a pitcher of his caliber.

an old arthritic woman is suing the Phanatic

and if the Phils got Haren, they'd have a "HA-HA-HA-HA" rotation when Happ gets back.  Pretty sure that'll end up on a t-shirt somehow...

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.
