If the Eagles are successful convincing another team to take on the Michael Vick Project, the team will have to replace him on the roster. Jeff Garcia wants to be the man to do so.

Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News writes Garcia has "tossed his helmet into the ring" and Bowen wouldn't be surprised if Garcia ended up back in Philly if Vick is dealt.

That all makes a lot of sense. Calling Garcia the "ideal mentor to Kevin Kolb" doesn't.

Garcia's career, with Philadelphia the possible exception, is filled with unhappiness and angling to start when he was on the bench.  We've never quite understood why Garcia has received a free media pass for much of his career for clashing with management from San Francisco to Detroit to Cleveland to Tampa Bay.

If Garcia wants to return to Philadelphia, we suspect it's because he thinks he could possibly start again should Kolb falter.

i'm all for having garcia back up kolb.  it's definitely a better option than vick.  i don't know what they're asking price is for vick, but they might want to consider taking on at least part of his salary to hopefully peak the interest of a couple teams.

I was talking to my dad the other day when they first brought up the possibility of Vick being traded and he was concerned about the back up spot if they pull the trigger.  And Garcia's name was the first I brought up. 

It certainly makes a lot of sense.  Hopefully at this point in his career he is willing to mentor.  If I remember correctly this is something that he wasn't willing to do before.
