Sheldon was on WIP this morning and said there were chemistry issues in the locker room this past season that had nothing to do with Donovan

I wonder if it had anything to do with him.

Yeah but he did whine about his contract, that he signed.

QuoteSheldon Brown suggests Eagles didn't buy in to Sean McDermott's coaching

Posted by Mike Florio on April 10, 2010 1:49 PM ET
For ten years, Jim Johson coordinated the defense in Philadelphia.  Last year, as Johnson battled cancer, McDermott assumed the responsibilities.

Though the Eagles qualified for the playoffs, a former member of the starting defense recently said that he believes that players did not buy in to McDermott's approach.

"I just think, we as a defense in Philadelphia, you just have to believe in what coach McDermott preaches and follow the plan," cornerback Sheldon Brown told Howard Eskin and Ike Reese of WIP radio in Philly this week.  "You know, sometimes I look back at last year, the season, I feel that we had some players that really was questioning some of the things that were being done.  And [we] never had that situation since I've been there.  And first and foremost, you have to believe in the system, believe in the plan, or you lose before you even go out there.  And if the guys can remember to do that, stick together, they'll be fine."

Sheil Kapadia of philly.com points out that Brown, who recently was traded to Cleveland, could have been referring to cornerback Asante Samuel, who apparently was unwilling to play press coverage in back-to-back losses to the Cowboys.

Brown had been unhappy before he was dealt, so it's possible that his discontent tainted his view of the team in 2010.  Still, it's the first time that anyone has suggested that players in Philly possibly weren't fully supporting the coaching they were receiving -- and that could be one of the reasons why Brown, linebacker Chris Gocong, and defensive end Chris Clemons are now gone.  It also could be one of the reasons why Samuel at one point was believed to be on the trading block.

Sharper Image For Eagles Defense?

April 10, 2010 | Last Updated: 4/10/10 4:39 PM ET | Comments (23)

NFL.com's Frank Tadych spoke with free agent safety Darren Sharper following a live chat with fans and while "throwing out an educated guess" he put the Eagles as one of the potential landing spots for the five-time Pro Bowl selection.

Sharper had nine interceptions last season for the Super Bowl-champion New Orleans Saints, which was tied with cornerback Asante Samuel for tops in the NFL.

The 34-year-old Sharper played last season on a one-year deal. He underwent a procedure on his left knee earlier this off-season. According to Tadych, Sharper would like to play free safety for a "playoff-caliber team."

The Eagles signed Marlin Jackson from the Colts in free agency. Jackson is recovering from an ACL injury, but if the rehab process continues to go well he is expected to start at free safety for the Eagles in 2010. Jackson can also play cornerback if another veteran or draft pick is acquired. The Eagles also have last year's opening day starter in Macho Harris and Quintin Demps, who is entering his third season.

This was posted on the main site so take it fwiw. I like to randomly throw crap out to start conversation, which is what I'm doing with this. Personally I wouldn't mind Sharper on a 1 year deal, he's better than what they have and it would allow them to draft a guy and not immediately throw him to the wolves.

sounds like sharper and his agent are doing a sell job because there isnt much of a market for him

100% YES on Sharper. The guy was and still is a playmaker and an absolute warrior. No reason not to bring him in and see if the knee procedure worked - who knows, maybe he's got a good two years left and then the whole macho/demps mess can go away.

I said it a few weeks back but I also think they should bring Mawae in...them not doing it makes me think they draft Maurkice.

PhillyPhreak54

Couple things...

I would be in favor of Sharper. But don't read too much into it as a sell job. He had knee surgery and is finally healthy enough to put himself on the market and make visits.

Mawae...I wouldn't doubt if his role as NFLPA head player rep is affecting his ability to find a job right now.

reese125

the signing of Sharper, especially with the surgery, would be a complete slap in the face to the whole Dawkins scenerio.
