Its definitely a downgrade on that side of the ball, but the guy was a disgruntled corner expecting a new contract. They didnt want to go into another off-season saga with that on their plate. You gotta cut bait, get what you can and move on.

Your defense of the Eagles is indefensible.

Brown never caused a scene or a problem last year. And there was no "saga". Give me a farging break. He played his ass off, through injury...and never missed a game. Played all out whenever he got on the field. Stfu.

He's a 30 year old malcontent who's on the down side of his career. Good Riddance. There was no 'saga' during the season after he pissed and moaned all offseason about his contract then showed up on opening day with this on:

This team is clearly rebuilding and has really no shot at a title this year so what was the use of keeping him around?

my defense of the eagles...ha...let me go and just hop on the phillygirl train of thought at all times to fit in

problem is heads in here cant be open-minded on decisions that are made by the front office because everything is anti-this or anti-that NO MATTER WHAT. to sit there and tell me that brown didnt come out in the media last year and discuss his desire for a new contract is delusional, but expected from you. He caused a gripe, it didnt work, then let it got to earn a living...you know...kind of what all players wind up doing when they realize they cant get what they want.

wake up girl

Rome

ha - a pos, a four and a five for two starters.

NOT REBUILDING!

you're right I've always been a big front office guy. Get over your personal feelings for the guy, I know he was nice to you when you met him and he was a decent player here but it's time to move on. Let me ask you this: Are we Superbowl contenders next season? If the answer is 'no' then I'm glad they got what they could for a player who's on the downside of his career. And if you don't think he's a 'malcontent' then there's no hope for you. The guy pissed and moaned every chance he got about getting a new deal. Geeee such a great guy he played for only $5 million of the deal that he signed. What a warrior. He's lost a step and is clearly on the downside of his career...not to mention he got destroyed by Dallas in back to back games.

Rome

dude - he was hurt.  he was having the best season of his career before he got injured, yet instead of Hoydaing it out, he stuck it out and played the rest of the season.

whatever, though.  he's better than anyone else on the roster, so of course it makes sense for the eagles to rid themselves of him.

What the farg does that have to do with anything? Oh ooooh, I'm a girl! He was nice to me when i met him so I MUST like him because of that! stfu too.

I can't even discuss this with you after that...well, that and the rest of your idiocy coming from your keyboard.

QuoteA high fourth-round pick and a high fifth-round pick have no value? What if you package them to move way up into the second or the third? I told you the Eagles would make a lot of moves. You all wanted moves!! Now you get them, and you whine. I would rather see how the roster shapes up for September. Young team doesn't mean a bad team. I wrote long ago about Sheldon and his injury last year and his performance. I saw this coming a long time ago. It isn't about the contract.

HHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA.

What a crock of shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.

The team has rid itself of roughly 10 veterans this offseason and you don't seem to care, but suddenly Brown's released and you're up in arms. Give me a break. And lol at the girl comment.

He wasn't having the 'best season of his career', he was having an average year by his standards. If he was so hurt he could have chosen to sit until he healed, players play through pain all the time. Again, not SB contenders next season, the team has already released a shtein ton of veterans, he's on the downside of his career. Am I missing something? Accept that we're rebuilding and you'll feel a whole lot better about the situation. The good thing is at least this team has some young up and coming talent to watch.

Im glad that you've come around to the fact that since Mcnabb is better than all the other qb's on the roster you're against the move to let him go too.

PhillyGirl

SD, I was flipping out pissed off and hating on the FO after Dawkins was let go the way he was last year. or do you forget that already?

I have been flipping out pissed off at this FO for a while now. This was insult to injury.

Oh, and Reese... the Eagles actually have not one, but TWO competent alternatives to McNabb.  Comparing giving Sheldon Brown away for next to nothing and the McNabb scenarios that have been floating around is inexplicably retarded even for you.
