I agree with IGY on this right now this is not a Super Bowl team and it is much more exciting to see some new blood.  I also agree with the McNabb thing, just get rid of him already.

Maybe it's just me but I think I'd rather see all this young and up coming talent spend the next few years growing with an actual NFL QB leading the team and not someone who more likely than not will be almost average at best.

no for the next few years you want the team to grow around their future qb...the skill position players (as well as an oline) needs to become one with cobb...not go thru motions and flame out again with mcnabb who is gone after next year anyway...obviously cobb could suck but you invested highly in him for a reason and now they are at almost a perfect spot to turn the team over to him and fiond out what up...right now they dont completely blow where they are going to damage cobb but they are are also nowhere near good enough to win anything with mcnabb...THIS IS THE TIME

Kolb isn't going to suck, but he's not going to be good enough to lead the team anywhere. He'll be on that Trent Dilfer level where he'll need a shut down bomb ass defense to have any hope of winning a SB. And that's not going to happen here with the lack of emphasis put on the LBs.

and regardless of everything else the fact is the eagles gave up a lot for him and they didnt do it to have him back up for four years then leave...the good thing about cobb is he has been groomed like they used to in the old days before monster signing bonuses catapulted draft picks into a starting position way before they are ready...the planets are aligned both in the state of the franchise and where cobb sits in his own career for him to be the man right now

i don't really see an issue with anyone the eagles have released so far. howard was doing ok but is he worth the money he was going to get ? it's not cheap to cut a guy who you think is grossly overpaid. it's smart. and this uncapped season battlecry is crap. who gives a farg about it being an uncapped year, if a guy is not worth the money it's assinine to spend it. period.

the team is in their minds cutting dead weight and if darren howard is your best arguement against that then you lost before you started typing.

please though, don't take this as a defense of the tin foil standard. i am not a fan of them at all. i want reid gone and i blame him for our failures more than anyone. banner to me is a shtien covered weasel IMO. rome you would know that personally from hearing me rail on them at the tailgates.  

i just don't think the cuts they have made so far are just money cuts.

agree

howard played pretty well against the run last year and got a couple sacks, but he'll be running on fumes this year as that positions numbers almost always declines. he is not worth that much, much less any kind of serious extension.

they just got tapp who will probably takes his place on some downs and be moved around the line, which sets them up nicely to go DE first or second rd

When I say not suck I'm talking on terms of not being Tim Couch. He'll be one of those guys that throws for 18 TD sand 13 INTs, and leads the team to a 7-9 record. The only way it's any better then that is if Reid commits to the run.

what evidence is there to suggest kolb cant be great. and what evidence is there is suggest kolb cant be terrible.

we have no farging idea what kolb is going to be. so to illustrate that, you go to the comparable high (brady) or a comparable low (hoying). seems...simple...
