replacing dead weight with dead weight is the definition of stupid.

i'm all for kicking clemons to the curb but doing so plus giving a decent draft choice and then turning around and giving a long-term extension to a player who doesn't deserve one is the definition of insanity.

and the funny thing is we've seen it a million times before from this bunch of dipshteins.

younger and cheaper than the other ends on the market you dumb ass

and hes not even close to chris clemons...clemons was more a 3-4 type edge rusher who wasnt a four down guy...tapp is a classic big 4-3 end who can play the run very well...hes not going to get you tons of sacks and wreak havoc like a peppers...you think you can get that for a fourth round pick?

christ why do i even address you on any sports related issues...should have made an ignore feature rather than a new board

There are no ends on the market right now worth the money they want. Paying for any of them would be just as dumb as trading for dead weight.

They don't need a big solidbutunspectacular guy opposite of Cole. They need someone who's gonna get some push and eat up a double team or two to free Killa up.

And no, I don't think they are going to get that in a 4th round pick. But I think their chances of getting that are better in a 4th (or 5th round pick, hello Trent Cole) round pick then getting anything worth noting out of Tapp. Hey maybe he does turn his career around which has been on the downturn for the last 3 years, and that's great.

But I remember a lot of the same expectations for Clemons when they signed him. A guy that had one good year and showed flashes, hoping he'd develop.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

ice grillin you

seattle wasnt caking him off...certainly the eagles arent...if he gets an extension it will be minor

if youre married to 4th round picks then i guess i vcan see you being upset with this...i personally dont have a problem trading a 4th for a guy like this...worst case scenario is he stays as he is and becomes a non descript rotation guy

best case he turns into aaron kampman or kyle vandenbosch whose sack numbers both exploded at the same age tapp is now after not doing much their first few years in the league

I'd still rather them have a 4th round draft pick because it's a ???

This guy is not a ???, he's Chris Clemons, the non-pass rushing version.

And this isn't a dumb move on a large scale, it's dumb because it's a completely lateral move with the loss of a 4th round pick attached to it. Not worth getting upset over, but still worth saying what the hell was the point of that other then to save afew bucks.

im pretty sure i just showed you a 4th round pick is not a questionmark...its pretty good odds they are going to get a terrible player

and its not a lateral move if tapp is better than clemons and he certainly is...is it a gigantic step forward of course not....and if tapp improves...which is entirely possible then it a really good move

they upgraded at de got younbger at de and received a player with potential at de....imo thats is worth the "risk" of giving up a 4th rounder

The fact that there are "odds" and that it's not 100% certain the pick will suck makes the argument for it being a ??. The odds are with the Eagles history of 2nd round draft picks that Kolb is going to suck balls as a starter, but you still parade around screaming for him over McNabb for the simple reason that he's a ??. Stop making yourself look like an idiot.

And of course it's not a lateral move if Tapp is better...But he's not. He's Clemons, minus the pass rushing ability, but a little bigger and can play the run better. That's not what the Eagles need at end opposite of Cole.

lol at a guy who has started fewer and fewer games and seen his stats decrease each year for the last 3 years in Seattle being an "upgrade".

Rome

i guarantee you the eagles sell us this guy as the answer at defensive end when he clearly is not.  if they were bringing him in as a rotational guy or even a special teams guy, i'd be fine with it, but just wait and see... they're going to piss on our necks and call it rain.

again.

Mad-Lad

Your stats would decrease too if you were stuck with Jim Mora Jr. as a head coach.  Terrible coach.

Munson

I agree.

But if this guy was that solid of a contributor, surely he would have started more then 5 games last year after starting all 16 two years prior to that.

Pete Carroll must really like what he sees in h-..oh.
