perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

and romey its not bait...if youre a war movie guy i cant totally see drooling over bob...but im not

the fact that you admit that you're not into war movies is what makes you calling it overrated so headbangingly funny/annoying.  it'd be like me, who has repeatedly said how much i don't like hockey and never watch it, started saying that this player or that team is overrated even though i have no idea what the hell i'm talking about.

the difference is you know nothing about hockey....i know a lot about war movies...they just arent my favorite genre...if history/war was my thing id like bob better...again not rocket science

in fact your analogy was utterly terrible...a better one would have been someone (like me for example) knowing and liking hockey but thinking the olympics are overrated

i love and know a lot about movies....its just that war movies arent my first cup of tea
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

Munson

Yes, but just because they're not YOUR cup of tea doesn't make the series overrated or any less great then what it is, which is what you were suggesting with your first post on it.

a WAR movie will not be as good to someone who doesnt like WAR movies vs. someone who does like WAR movies

if it was anyone else id be flabbergasted at even having to explain this...with you...not so much

just like a series about coloreds from inner city baltimore no matter how far and away better it is than the second best show of all time would have zero appeal to you...unlike say a western set in 1870's south dakota that centers around cowboys

no matter how hard this all hurts your brain...it really isnt difficult

Please read what Sarge wrote, and stop trying to play the race card yet again.

The amazing part is how blind you are being to your own stupidity....again.

its not a race thing...its a what you can relate to thing...a movie about the inner city is going to be completely foregin to you...where as salt of the earth MA joe plumber types are right in your wheelhouse....and we all are going to enjoy/understand the things that are more comfortable to us

Actually I prefer to stick to sarcastic comedies rather then anything coming close to cowboys or inner city drama.

Must be because I'm white.

wrong.  i have a relatively decent understanding of the game.  but i don't enjoy watching it, therefore, i don't watch it.  and since i don't actually watch the sport, i'm in no position to actually give an opinion on where current players or franchises rank amongst each other.

Quote....i know a lot about war movies...

if you think that band of brothers is completely overrated, then i'd say that you don't know anything about war movies.  with both band of brothers and saving private ryan, wwII veterans were talking non stop about how true to life it seemed.  and not just the battle scenes (because in reality, you can never ever accurately recreate the choas that takes place on the battlefield) but they were talking about the dialogue, the interactions among characters, the gear and equipment they used, the terminology, the tactics, the mannerisms.......every little detail was applauded for it's realism by the people who were actually there.  so i'd say that if anyone knows anything about a realistic wwII movie, it's probably the people who fought in wwII.

and i'd say that your analogy is actually full of the suck.  i love and know alot about sports.  hockey is sort of like a sports genre, one that isn't my first cup of tea.  but just because i do love baseball, basketball and football, that doesn't make me qualified to talk about hockey.....even though i've seen plenty of games in my life just as i'm sure you've seen plenty of war movies.  in both cases, neither of us are really qualified to offer our criticisms.

i'm curious..... how is it that a white, 30ish yr old dude who lives in the suburbs is going to be any more in tune with what goes on in the inner city than say munson or easy or anyone else on this board?

shorebird

It's all about the street cred bro'. Even if your street is in well manicured suburb.

Especially since I live within city limits, am about to move further into the city, and live closer to the same money/conditions on inner city kids then IGY probably ever has.

Cowboys in the 1870s! yes!

because i grew up in a city..went to college in a city...volunteered in inner cities......rip and ran with people from the city.....im guessing this is a trick question tho since you actually brought up delaware garbage like munson as a comparitive example
