basically i like the four major american professional sports leagues college bball college football and tiger woods

everthing else can pretty much go to hell

just out of curiosity (and i don't like hockey one way or the other) what's the difference between watching olympic hockey and the nhl, especially since nhl players compete?  are the rules different in olympic competition?

the rules are essentially the same but the main differences are that olympic hockey doesnt have season or a team from philadelphia and half the participants would rather be club hopping in prague than be playing hockey

i'd imagine that could be said for pretty much any occupation.

i suspect theres a chance i wouldnt...but cant say for sure

Olympic hockey has way more national pride but otherwise it's a bunch of exhibition games with prizes.  I get what igs is saying about not liking all hockey though (I don't care about Frozen Four or any of those independent Canadian junior leagues or anything and I'm not the only one), but it's that way for all sports.  MLB fans usually don't care about college or minor league baseball, and there's about 20 people that watched the UFL......

international competition > everything else outside of epic rivalry games

problem is only 2 events (olympic hockey and world cup) are the top of the mount for their sport. the world baseball classic will never work for a variety of reasons, and as of now a the usa basketball program is untouchable and too dominant. and no one else plays football.

so thats why you see increased interest for those 2 events cause they beat any nhl game, regular season or playoff, and any soccer game, mls or champions league.
