I'm leery of Peppers. I'd love to get him, but I also think back to Kearse as Dio said.

I agree. But if there's no cap, as a fan I'd like to see them go after him. If I were Laurie I'd think twice.

negative...they jumped all over him and got him early as they normally do...not ripping them for it but they dont compete/bid against other teams

its a dark road to go down to question easy
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

well alright

but theres a 100% chance he has a bolded, bullet-pointed response ready and waiting that he can copy and paste from one of his old posts on philliesphans or the emb or something. dont test him.

an uncapped year is banner's worst nightmare come to life.

Here's the deal with defensive ends:  you gotta draft 'em or develop them.  Signing them rarely works.  By the time they've made a mark, they are usually on the way down hill, or they are much less effective on another team because the new team expects them to save the day and doesn't have the line talent to support them.  Peppers is 30 years old.  No chance he'll be worth whatever some team pays for him.

this makes sense.  however, one thing that i think is different between peppers and kearse is that kearse came into the league and made alot of noise right away.  however, his production declined in each of his first 3 seasons (in fact, his career numbers are literally a downward slope) and then by the time he signed with the eagles in 04, he was still living on the name he'd built 4 years prior.  he is easily the worst free agent signing by andy reid imo.

peppers on the other hand, is still a very productive player.  if i were to compare him to any other DE's in the game, i'd lean more towards jason taylor instead of jevon kearse.

peppers is still in great shape, has only missed 6 games in 8 years, but has played in all 16 games for 6 of those years so durability doesn't seem to be an issue either.  i'm not saying that you break the bank for the guy, but he's definitely a guy worth paying.  i don't know if he'll have the longevity of jayson taylor, but he's certainly not the flash in the pan player that kearse turned out to be.

so what's the consensus on Peppers here?  farg no or hell yeah?  He's done with Carolina and Carolina won't tag him again...

For a guy his age and the money he will command, I would say that it is a huge risk.  Can't say I would be disappointed if they got him though.
