no, the team's that have defenses who score generally advance deeper in the playoffs.

of course, i can't say i find it interesting as much as i find it not surprising.

surprising to the fact that if history repeats itself we should be seeing the Jets, Cowboys or Bal/Patriots in the Superbowl

not too sure anyone has either of them advancing to the superbowl--except "maybe" the Pats out of that group

ha...its the same thing...teams that generally score more are going to do ok

i think we can all agree points are important in football

it's pretty recent history that's based on though so it's not like it's some sort of longstanding trend in football.

but i see your point now in that if that trend continues this year, it will put one of the lesser favored playoff teams in the super bowl, where in years passed, those teams with high scoring defenses were higher favorites to make the super bowl anyway.

would any of those teams outside of maybe jets really suprise you to make it?

nfl has been all about parity for quite a while now

things like rookie qb's winning playoff games and wild card teams not making the superbowl are long in the past

Ravens--yes-not even close to the team it used to be
Jets--disgusting qb play--not even close to a Baltimore/Detmer situation
Cowboys-- may be the one team I can see
Pats-not with Welker out (although I like Eldeman), but that defense should get shredded by Rivers

Sgt PSN

i'm actually surprised the pats have a high scoring defense considering it's been terrible overall in comparison to previous patriot teams.

well you can sit and make your favorites....so can i...and if we did that last year we have arizona out in the first round...they were a travesty going into the playoffs...people were making jokes that they shouldnt even be allowed in...but after the fact it didnt look so crazy...you say to yourself now well their defense tightend up and they did have the greatest post season qb ever and two incredible wr's ect...

im not saying the jets will make it but defense wins in the postseason as you said they have that...thomas jones is a great underrated runner that along with a good offensive line allows for ball and clock control which also can get you wins in the playoffs and then let their qb manage the game ala pittsburgh in the 2005 playoffs...those are all things you will look back on like arizona last year and be like yeah not really that suprising...

and you can do this with every team...the fact that there are really no longer any great teams in the league allows for this

I don't know the exact stat, but the team with a defense that scores a TD wins the game around 75% of the time. Is that interesting or not surprising?

not sure anyone shares this feeling, but there are 3 teams I have stuck in my mind right now that have a solid shot at winning this thing...

Vikings--I just have that gay feeling that this is some kind of destiny thing for Favre and can see the headlines now
Colts-its ridiculous watching Manning play qb
Packers--solid defensive backfield, LB'ing core and a high powered offense is a recipe for a superbowl win

something wants me to say the Cowboys because they are looking like the Giants of 2 years ago, but I think Romo will keep that Mcnabb-like label of never winning the big one so long as hes in the nfl

saints--I just dont think that defense is good enough to win

Tomahawk

I think it's the Packers or Cowboys out of the NFC with the edge going to the Pack. Out of the AFC, I'll go with SD and Indy

ice grillin you

saints can easily win...their offense can be super scary and their home field is going to be sick

cardinals i think had the 29th ranked defense in the nfl last year and a worse offense...of course they had warner

but you can also find reasons why the saints wont make it

the nfl playoffs every year now is all if's and but's and pretty much impossible to predict

reese125

the cardinals had the 2nd ranked passing offense in the league last year and were 3rd in scoring...not to mention were 19th ranked in defense

but whatever though--they were not supposed to go deep in the playoffs, Fitzgerald put on a superman cape and was unstoppable--shtein he could do it again
