What's the beef with Emrick? Great hockey voice and shows genuine excitement when calling a game. There are far worse national announcers out there than him.

since i refuse to watch hockey or even bother looking at the standings, are the flyers good again?  i need to know this before i start rooting for them.

Emerick is a douche of epic proportions, and a traitor at that.  I cant believe how the refs farged the flyers on the OT goal, the bruins had 7 skaters on the ice..lol  Kimmo was pissed

What really burned Timonen, however, was the tripping call he got at 16:08 of the third period with Flyer goalie Michael Leighton guarding a 1-0 shutout. Timonen dived to block a shot at the net and 6-foot-9 behemoth, Zdeno Chara, tripped on his stick.

"I was on the ground and he stepped on my leg and fell down," Timonen said. "If you call that tripping, that's tripping. That's kinda weak to me."

To me this game is the perfect example of what hockey has become.  Refs were pretty much non existent all game, but under 5 minutes to go, you could see they were trying their best to make calls.  The presentation outside of the announcers was great, loved the blimp shot, once they got the zoom right, it was a cool video game like view, though i think it should have been used soley for video breakdown of plays.  It was a good physical game and in an instant the refs went from letting it all play to calling tickey tacky shtein.  Carcillo giving the double horns after dropping Thornton was great.  I actually saw my buddy after the Syvret goal in the stands, lucky bastich.

Carcillo said he wanted to make history as the first fighter in an outdoor game, then he gave props to the Flyer fans that showed up

igs, the whole thing wasn't awesome (most of the game itself was boring) but the outdoor stuff is pretty cool.  Next year it'll probably be Caps/Rangers at Yankee Stadium or Citi Field...

he's awful. He was awful when he was here at Philly 57 back in the 80s as the Flyers guy.

He doesn't have a voice for hockey, its annoying as hell. He is a homer to the highest proportion and hates on every Atlantic Division team not named the Devils. To a point of having to shut him off. While this would not be an issue if he were just the Devils pbp guy, its a whole different story when he's the national guy.

I watched a few games with him in the past where even the NON hockey fans with me couldn't stand to listen to the guy.
