since the wildcat offense is primarily run oriented, i doubt reid will ever actually figure it out.

for the record, i'm not all that displeased with vick because i had little expectations for him going in.  my frustration lies with the thinking that they could inplement the wildcat and be successful and it's turned out to be an epic failure.  you would think that vick could be a dual threat in the wildcat because he can throw the ball and that reid would figure out a way to draw up a few plays for it but he hasn't.  in fact, everything that reid has tried to do with the wildcat has blown up in his face.

i don't fault vick for being unhappy with his role either, especially since it's even more limited than anyone imagined it would be when he was signed.  i think he appreciates the opportunity just to even be in the league again but at the same time, dude was a starting qb and wants to be a starting qb.  i can't hate on him for that even though i think he's an average qb at best.  but there's not a single qb out there who thinks they couldn't/shouldn't start, especially when he's been a starter his entire career.

we don't need dawkins but lets re-sign trotter and bring in vick.

As long as they keep running the Wildcat as a spread offense and now how the Dolphins use it, which is more condensed in and not so damn spread out, they're not going to have success. They spread out way too much to successfully run it (How's Vick supposed to get to the edge if there's already guys out on the edge) and if they're in the spread, teams will expect the pass. Reel it in, run it like the Phins/1940s style, then you'll have A. More room to run on the edges and B. Better able to surprise with a pass.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

I'll ditto this whole post.

I feel bad for all the farging wasted roster spots this year on bullshtein like this and the farging andrews sister 'an curtis 'an...oh farg it....
Endless regression to the mean

I wouldnt' call it a wasted roster spot. Most every team has a #3 QB, just so happens they actually try and use theirs.

QuoteWhen quarterback Mike Vick arrived in Philly, Donovan McNabb went well out of his way to say and do all the right things in an effort to properly welcome him to town (even if McNabb privately was feeling threatened by the development).

Now that Vick's time with the team is, for all practical purposes, winding to a non-spectacular conclusion, he's paying McNabb by publicly hanging out with one of Donovan's most vocal detractors.

Throughout Thursday, ESPN showed images from boxer Bernard Hopkins' Wednesday night fight.  And there was Vick in the ring with Hopkins, smiling the smile of a guy oblivious to the reality that he left most of his football skills somewhere in the nether regions of Leavenworth.

when they get a low level draft pick for him in the offseason can we delete this thread and pretend he never existed?

Eagaholic

I'd be surprised at this point if they got a draft pick for Vick.

There weren't more than 2 or 3 teams even interested in him this past year and he's done nothing to increase his stock since. You never know -  the QB market is the most unpredictable and the Eagles did get compensation for people like  Parry, Thrash and McMullen, but I don't see teams wanting to take both Vick's $5.5 million salary and baggage.

Three things can happen when you throw the ball, and two of them are bad.

LBIggle

teams didn't want the negative publicity of signing him right out of levinworth and having to get him back into football shape.  he was never going to be a starter or anything this year. how many teams in an offseason are looking for a qb..   someone will give up a lower end draft pick and gladly pick up his salary.    and then we can delete this thread and shut the farg up about it.
