Got the iPhone GS johnson, already posted on CF with it. Seems pretty good to me.

i hear people bitch about AT&T too, but it's never anyone who actually has it, just what they've heard.  it's like some people have to justify to themselves not to buy one.  i've never had any problems with the service, and in fact its 10x better than sprint, which i had before.

I agree...I have AT&T for my Blackberry and I dig it. I've had Nextel (terrible), Sprint (slightly less terrible) and Verizon (average)... AT&T is the best of the bunch. I had them back when they were known as Cingular too.

if you havent downloaded App world for your blackberry yet get on it. Lots of apps available now

fattest app I just downloaded is greenfinder...just as accurate as skycaddie and it only cost $39.99.

40 bucks for an app to help you find pot?   Sucker.

Phreak, AT&T has a huge footprint in Texas and the west coast.  For some reason, they still haven't penetrated the East coast to the level that Verizon has.  Everyone i know who has a iphone say its the greatest internet connected thing ever, phone not so much.

i've had att for about 5 years now and have lived coast to coast with it and the coverage every where has been great.  i don't get much service when i'm driving around on the back roads in the desert going to and from work, but i'd imagine that wouldn't change with a new service provider.

We've had Cingular/AT&T since roughly 2002.  The only place we've had trouble with reception is in my in-laws place in Bath, Maine.  I figure that the technology hasn't reached Little Canada yet.

Sgt PSN

the blackberry network on att sometimes pisses me off though because there are times when i'll have full bars for reception and still can't make a call.  it doesn't happen very often but it's still annoying as farg.  i think that's a blackberry issue though more than an att issue, which is another reason why i don't plan on staying with blackberry once i'm able to upgrade phones.

Sgt PSN

i hate blackberry.  their phones are poorly made and the network sucks and there's no way that i'm going to wait another 18 months to upgrade with att.  so i'm getting an iphone from a guy i work with who is due for his upgrade so he's trading in his regular 8gb 3g iphone for one of the newer ones and he said he'll give me the old one free of charge.  score.

only problem is that his screen is pretty much cracked top to bottom and side to side.  phone seems to work fine, you just have a hard time making out anything on the screen.  he tells me, and i've heard from other people, that the screen is a pretty easy fix and shouldn't run me more than $60 or $70 and the phone will look like new.

i checked apple's website and they'll replace the screen but it costs like $200.  farg that.  anyone know of a reputable site or dealer that i can buy the screen from at a more reasonable cost?  is it something i could do myself or is there more to it than just popping off the old screen and putting on a new one?

youre taking a big risk f-in with screen--especially being that it is touchscreen

there is a reason it cost $200 from apple--basically the cost of the phone itself.

Sgt PSN

i went to an att store about a week ago to find out about the possibility of changing phones.  they said no way unless i want to pay full price for a new phone.  i asked about refurbished iphones, which are like $200 and they said i could buy one but would have to pay new phone price.....which is rediculous.

they told me that if i get one from outside the att network, ie: private party sale, that i just need to call them so they can adjust my network settings and there's no fee or penalty for me to do that.

att is kind of pissing me off with this one.  i really don't understand the logic of contractually obligating me to a phone for 2 years.  and especially with all the technology that phones have now, a 30 day period to make up your mind is kind of rediculous.  after a month with my blackberry i was still learning all of it's features and functions.

i think i'll call att directly and see what i can get out of them.  maybe i'll have better luck than i did with the store.

good luck. remember your at their mercy and they don't care. give them hell
