As far as school children are concerned, the presidents goals are to help the country and take care of the people in it.

I can't see little 8 year old Billy standing up and telling Obama he fully supports his health care plan.
Though I would guess that if Billy doesn't have health insurance, he might be helping himself out to do so.

It's not desperate at all.  If parents don't agree with Obama's policies, and don't want them to listen to his speech, what's the issue???
If you want your kids to hear it, than go ahead and let them hear it.  Seems pretty simple to me.

I challenge any parent who's holding their precious children out of school because they don't agree with what the President has to say to just go ahead and keep them out of school permanently.  The children are afterall hearing all kinds of things in school that these people don't like, from evolution to sex ed to equality for all, so it might be best for their fragile minds to just stay at home and learn about how Jesus planted the fossils to test our faith.
