For IU its 2 million more bucks than they would normally get, and for PSU its another home game.  For the skins its money in Danny Boy's pockets

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

For IGY, they'll probably get a huge recruiting boost from this in the area that LJ Sr does so well in already.

Riggo Discusses Twitter and the Skins

Two men on Twitter.  The best part of John Riggins's early experiments with Twitter? That I had to ask him for some mild help understanding his 140-character blasts. Even as every athlete plus their fourth cousin has started twittering, there haven't been terribly many references to the Stepford Wives. So what, for example, did Riggo mean by bringing that up when discussing last weekend's preseason Skins broadcast?

"Mind control," he said. "Everyone on the broadcast team felt like they were a member of the Stepford Wives. That's what it felt like I was watching. Everything was beautiful, every player on the team is all-world, this team does nothing wrong."

Or in tweeting that the broadcast made him think of Robert Shaw's Battle of the Bulge?

"There was a shot of Snyder and Zorn," Riggins recalled. "Snyder was wearing the taterskins hat with a parka on. Right away you think tank commander . He was right in the middle of it. In fact, I couldn't tell who the head coach was and who was the bystander."

Or this Tweet, about Jason Campbell: "JC showing signs of offseason turmoil, pressure mounting, when you shoot at the king; must kill him."

Again, being dull, I asked for an explanation.

"Management of the taterskins went after the king," Riggins said. "They took a shot at him, a couple times in fact, botched both attempts, and ended up with now a shaken king. Point being, is the king going to be able to perform with all the pressure that keeps mounting? Maybe I've got to be a little more straightforward."

No way. Anyhow, will the king be able to perform?

"If you're down to 90 seconds on the clock and you need a touchdown, is Jason Campbell that guy? Is he gonna take you down the field. I'd have to say I have my doubts."

And Riggo on the Skins this year?

"I'm not gonna give you a number, but it looks to me like more losses than wins. I just think it's more of the same, basically."

i'll wait until tonight and get some realistic and unbiased opinions from the experts over at es.

Without reading ES, I'm gonna make an assumption that Greg Blache is being patted on the ass over there pretty heavily after reading this on PFT...

Dan Steinberg of D.C. Sports Bog passes along an interesting video from the postgame coverage of Friday night's Patriots-taterskins game.

In it, Trevor Matich of CSN asks taterskins defensive coordinator Greg Blache a seemingly innocuous question about the team's pass rush (which, for the most part during the first half against the Pats, was more like a pass watch).

Blache interpreted the query as an exercise in passive-aggression.  And so Blache responded with a little aggression-aggression.

It's not quite Denny Green stuff, but in a season that has yet to feature many memorable sound bites from coaches, it's the best thing we've seen to date.

They loathe the media on ES...I'll mosey on over later tonight and see what those assfargs have been up to

QuoteASHBURN, Va. -- Washington taterskins fullback Mike Sellers apologized Saturday for throwing the American flag to the ground during lineup introductions before an exhibition game against the New England Patriots.

"I meant no disrespect," he said.

Sellers said he acted in the "heat of the moment" Friday night.

He said he's aware of proper conduct when it comes to the flag and should have known better, having grown up in an Army family.

The taterskins last year began a routine in which the last person introduced before a game runs out of the tunnel hoisting the American flag.

Sellers carried the flag to midfield, then flung it down near the 50-yard line before joining his teammates in a midfield huddle.

Linebacker Robert Hanson removed the flag from the turf.

"I made a mistake by setting it down the way I did, and I apologize if I offended anybody out there," Sellers said. "I was asked to bring it out, last minute, didn't know who to give it to. I got hyped up and put the flag down. It was in the heat of the moment."

A rather minor infraction, but I can't allow a taterskin to farg up without it being reported on :CF

the fact that the american flag is treated better and considered more important than actual american people is sickening

when the flag starts popping out a bunch of kids and becoming a drain on society then i'll start bitching about how it's treated.  not to mention that people generally treat each other like ass.  so if you have a problem with how people are treated, take it up with those around you.

there really isn't much to flag etiquette.  don't let it touch the ground.  fold it properly when not in use.  when it frays or shows signs of wear, get a new one.  dispose of the old one properly.  if you don't know how to, call a local boy scout troop, vfw, american legion, marine corps league or any other veterans group.

the people (not you) that care if a flag is folded properly generally could less about other people
