They just love it when we get to fighting about the teachers making too much.  Or the firefighters.  Or cops.  Or EMTs.  Or garbage men.  Keeps the focus off 24 million per year to head a health insurance company stocked with Harvard and Wharton MBAs, Yale and NYU lawyers, and gosh-wiz techno pros.

Teachers deserve to make as much as we can possibly pay them.  So do firefighters cops, etc.  These jobs are vital, and underpaid all.

They? now you sound like rush   I agree 100000% that 24 million is excessive for any profession, and I never said teachers are not underpaid. Teachers vote on their contracts, and at least in illinois have the chance to dictate who gets what (meaning newer or older teachers getting the benefits). My Bro in law struggled making it with  right around 30k his first couple of years.

youre doing it by choice and are happy with it...the average person strives for more money...and for that person 60 is not that much at all

Oh I couldn't do it if my wife weren't making decent money in a job she likes, don't get me wrong.  60 with say two kids....you're lucky to get a mortgage on a needs work house in a so-so neighborhood.

thats what im saying....if you live in a metro area like boston ny philly dc la sf ect...60 isnt a lot of money

of all the people i know who live in those areas i dont know a single person with a degree even in their 20's who doesnt make 60...much less in their 30's where youve been in the workforce for upwards of 15-16 years...even without a degree at that age you most likely make 60+

Yeah, they.  They aren't sitting in a dark room plotting.  But they rule, or try to.  It works kinda like this....slave owners were doing good enough but they had a problem...poor whites were so bad off, the owners faced a threat of insurrection not just from the slaves, but also from the poor whites.  So what did they do?  Well, they didn't sit in a dark room and devise the plan, but having the same interests and values, they almost universally landed on the right angles.  1. Set the poor whites against the poor blacks by hiring them as overseers (before this the slave crews were run by the owners/families directly, or by a slave overseer) and giving them a whip (hence cracker), and paying them a dirt poor wage for the privelage to do it.  Sow the seeds of racial hate within what amounted to the same class, profit.  2.)There was also the "force/dupe them to go West" tactic, which was also successful. 

No plotting.  Just individuals with common interests and values. 

Same shtein goes on today.  Rich love to set us against each other for the scraps.  They constant find ways to send us West, and maintain status quo.  The CEOs don't all sit together and graph this shtein it...they just do it naturally.

My brother in law has been teaching for 12 years, he is making close to 105k.

Unless he's teaching at a University I find this hard to believe.

60-70k a year for 9-10 months of work (again, not including stipends or additional education) is a pretty good living considering the average US income is 26k.

Their job is thankless and very difficult and should get paid a good salary.  In NJ they do. 

And what world to you live in IGY where people in their 30's with a college degree are earning 60k everywhere??  There are a ton of people out there with Masters degrees that don't make that much in a given year.

For Florida, I'd say average.  I'm above that, but have 14 years in the system.
