Yeah, been on credit forever, that is even more reason to mortgage our future by a trillion more.

you're right, lets keep giving tax breaks to the upper class and funding useless wars. I'd much rather have the money go there than programs that might actually help normal people.
if in 4 years Americas in the same mess as we are now then you have the right to bash Obama, but 3 months into his presidency just wreaks of bitterness by the right. For all the patriotic nonsense they try to jam down your throat they sure come across as hypocritical when someones in charge that they don't agree with.

This might sound far fetched and has somewhat been said before, but that money could have been used to pay off nearly every mortgage in the country. Now tell me, what would have been a better way to stimulate the economy?

SD_Eagle5

So you want the Government to pay off every mortage in the country? Awesome, let me buy my mansion first.  And I'm pretty sure $1 trillion wouldn't cover the cost. The notion of that idea is so ridiculous it could only have been dreamed up by Hannity or Rush.

The bailout money could have been used to pay off all the mortgages in the country?  Really?? Does that include commercial and industrial debt as well?

No.

QuoteI was under the impression that Obama said the bill would CREATE jobs

Yes. He didn't say it would create jobs within a couple months, though. More importantly he said it would SAVE jobs. Which it hopefully has.

Quotebut that money could have been used to pay off nearly every mortgage in the country. Now tell me, what would have been a better way to stimulate the economy?

Perhaps but this was also a progressive package. There's a LOT of money being invested in things that could and should have been invested in eight years ago.

Like what? Were in your mind would that money have been better off spent than on mortgages?

Yeah, like it would apply to people who run out after the fact and buy a house they can't afford. What is rediculous is your notion that some asshat like you would even qualify to buy a million, or trillion dollar house like all the other dumb fargs who got in over their heads.

Nothing but more liberal bullcrap.

STFup.

Interesting turn around. Now the right wants to bail out morgages? Few months ago it was "you were stupid enough why should my tax dollars bail you out".

No worries though. The left will do something equally impressive in the next few days I'm sure...

Appropriating billions of dollars to upgrade things like our schools, infrastructure, high speed rail, alternative energy sources, etc. was a very bad idea. So logically attempting to trim millions from the budget is even worse.

Hey, you might want to let Catapiller know when those projects are going to start so they can "preserve " some jobs.  :-D

"President-elect Barack Obama said on Saturday an analysis of his stimulus proposals showed that up to 4 million U.S. jobs could be saved or created by 2010, nearly 90 percent of them in the private sector."

That's strange. I thought I remember hearing recently a lot of Right Wing talk about how we should inno way have the government help buy out all those "toxic assets".
