i never knew they determined picks on a player by player basis...i thought the cumulative of all you lost and gained was turned into giving or getting an x amount of picks
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

I understand the rules of comp picks, but the mere fact that the Giants are getting a 3 for a guy who 1. sucks and 2. isnt even on that team anymore is more than enough evidence that the rules need to be changed a bit.

youre the only one who understands them...they are a bigger mystery than vorp

i dont understand how something that awards a thing as important as draft picks is not explained...saying it has to do with contract amount playing time and success is not near specific enough

I dont mean I know all the rules well enough, but I have a general idea of how they are divided, that you can't trade them, etc...

Basically, I know them well enough to be able to say that the Giants getting a 3rd for Wilson is a joke.

agree. that cat sucked it up hard in oakland and his coverage skills were exposed

just goes to show you that when you have that kind of pressure on the qb that the Giants had, not only is it pie to become one of the top free agents on the market the following season but you can actually fool other teams into believing youre really that good

the problem is maybe they weigh contract amount more heavily than they weigh quality of play...or maybe amount of snaps played is more important than both of them...until they come up with some sort of formula the whole thing is suspect imo

You have to find a way to quantify something that is more qualitative.  So, you either make it subjective to someone's opinion, or you base it on the amount of cheddar which said homey is stacking.

I love when your Erkel and 50 cent persona come out at the same time---its much more enjoyable to read

What if the Giants picked Gibril back up after the Raiders cut him? Would they still get the comp pick?

Because as it stands now, essentially, the Giants acquired a 3rd round pick for Wilson. Ew.

reese125

damn...this Gibril Wilson shtein really has you up in arms huh?

They don't try to subjectively weigh quality of play at all (and it would be a minefield if they did try). Salary, games played, games started, and honors won (like Pro Bowl selection) are used as a proxy for objectively determining the worth of a player.

As far as I know, yes.
