i've tried listening to some of wayne's stuff but i just can't get into it.  maybe it's the fake grimey voice he & 99% of the other rappers from the south use.  i'm not sure.
the last time that voice worked was when sticky fingaz said bu-bu-but wait it gets worse.

Lupe destroys LIL Wayne any day of the week lyrically. Charisma? He needs to be drunk to record? Wayne is somehow considered a legend all of a sudden because he went from being absolute garbage to be able to string together sentences finally. His metaphors are kindergarten level. "IM WAYNE...BLUE LIKE BLUE BERRIES"

What you posted/highlighted is read a lot better than he raps it. Thats my biggest problem with Wayne. Even if he has a clever line his delivery is terrible.

And is listening to all of Tribes albums a pre requisite to being a rapper? I bet you  LIL Wayne never ever listened to A Tribe Called Quest. Boring? Depends on what you prefer in your subject matter. I rather listen to a album that covers various topics and does it far more cleverly with great lyrics than listen to LIL Wayne rap about his money pretty much on every song while he mimics T Pain while also sounding like he is going thru labor.

And I was trying to highlight how low I think of Wayne by saying Jay Z or Nas deserved it more. American Gangster and Untitled were disappointments. Well ok fine Carter III was better than the crap Nas put out. TI deserved it more than Wayne.

Still out of the albums nominated The Cool was far superior to the Carter III

id rather listen to a lil wayne album that has three or four bangers and some garbage than an entire lupe albbum that sounds like one long song even if that song is decent

lupe went on vh1 honors and didnt know the lyrics to electric relaxation then said this when people called him out

I guess I am the complete opposite. I can not listen to the bangers for too long since they over play the songs anyway on the radio.

The Tribe issue I thought was dealt with? Q Tip asked him to perform...he did not know the lyrics and did not grow up listening to them. But if you actually listen to his stuff/albums he constantly big ups all the rappers he did grow up listening to. But whatever. Maybe I would enjoy LIL Wayne a bit more if he was not on every song out there and most of those songs sound the same, he raps the same thing, and they all have the same ppl on them.

And your boy Kanye is the one responsible for giving Lupe a chance by featuring him on a song. They are even in a grp together with Pharell.
