I watched a fairly decent tour of the White House hosted by everyone's favorite Stepford First Lady this afternoon.  I'm not a White House historian or anything but I had no idea that the place was completely gutted and rebuilt during Truman's second administration.  The best part was when they showed the ICBM silo under the Rose Garden.  Very cool stuff.

Yeah, the third floor was practically caving in by the end of World War II.  Truman and his family lived in the Blair House during renovations.  There was an assassination attempt there by Puerto Rican nationalists.
