That one was awful/awesome.  Hell of a story.  I thought they did a good job on it too.

One of my favorite episodes was the one where the guy in second or third floor apartment had a shoot out with some people and killed a guy.  The guy's story of self defense matched the story the detectives had figured out to a tee.  His guns were legally registered, and he was not charged.

I'd like to see a little more of the darker side of the cops, more of their humor, etc.  I've seen plenty of the "what a senseless killing" comments.  I'm more interested in what makes the cops tick.  And that's what's interesting about the killers, too...seeing what makes them tick, how they got into the situation they were in, etc.

First 48 on A&E is a pretty good reality detective show I have been addicted to lately

Two other things.

I'm amazed how few suspects lawyer up.  It's just incredible to me how much they want to talk, even when they are playing hard to get.  shtein, if I ws even a witness to anything like this shtein, I'd demand a lawyer before I talked to the cops.

One other thing I wonder about is the witnesses.  Sometimes they blur out faces, disguise voices, etc.  But even that seems risky to me.  People on the street know who's who and can pretty quickly figure out who did or didn't talk without the show.  But when you show the front of a lady's house, her blurred out face on a recognizable body standing in a recognizable front door, that seems to me to be a give away.

I didn't see the shootout one, at least I do not recall it. I wish they would sell them on DVD on some other site other than just A&E, because I think they are pretty expensive on there.

I'd like to see it too; but they can't show it. From working around police (while working for the prisons), plus having some in my family and from reading Simon's book, their humor/way of dealing with the crime scenes etc. wouldn't play well with the general public. I understand it and I am sure you do too, but there'd be an uproar the first time one of them dropped a "that farging idiot deserved to be shot" comment.

Agreed. But that shows a glimpse into the mind of most of those criminals. They think they are smarter than the police or that they can talk their way out of it. Or they are just too stupid to keep their mouths shut.

The ones who are guilty or who know the game go into the box and sleep or act indifferent to the whole situation. Like they're just being inconvenienced and will be out in an hour or so.

The cops play the whole "if you do not talk to me now, I can't help you when you go to the judge" schtick. And that's all that is, them runnin' game.

If I ever get in a situation like that, the only word outta my mouth will be "lawyer".

I have wondered that about the witnesses too. Even when watching shows about the mafia or the Gangland series on NatGeo (I think its that channel), when they black a face out you can make out the peoples heads. Or when the voice is covered up, someone who may know that person and how they talk could pick up on that stuff. If I inform on someone, no cameras and no recording devices will be allowed or I do not talk.

When I worked on Death Row I used to talk to a few of those guys and they would tell me how stupid they were for talking without the attorney and waiving their rights. One guy said point blank he thought he could talk his way out of it.

The BIGSTUD

United States of Tara:

No idea what to think of this after just one episode. Toni Collette had huge tits and in one of her personalities she is looking really hot. Others though you can see her age and one of them is a dude. Really weird show, and no idea the direction it is going, but I'll stay tuned in short-term for now.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

reese/cole/munson/ff/stalker strikes again
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.
