Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

As historical as it is to see Obama elected, her fargups were historically bad.

thats why I found it hysterical how many on here and in the news were cheering this as a political genius

people see a woman get nominated, and all of a sudden its the best for a campaign and America?

The move was degrading for women around America...and the McCain party proved it in a big way

Wrong.  I cheered it as a good selection for a desperate campaign.

Apparently, the McCain campaign learned on the fly that she did not know even some of the most basic things about American and global politics.  Whoops.

That said, if he'd picked someone like Pawlenty, he would have simply faded into the background and made it even less interesting.  In hindsight, he probably should have gone with someone like Romney due to his perceived (some of it earned, some of it not) strength on economic/business matters.  It would not have made the difference between winning and losing, though.

Allow me to save ATV the effort...

I think it was most definitely McCain himself.  He probably went against the advice of the more-erudite politicians vetting his possibilities... you know, because he's so mavericky and all.

Cerevant

Yeah, the rumors were pretty solid that McCain desperately wanted Lieberman.  He probably would have been a good pick to impress moderates.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

Has anyone ever been the losing Vice Presidential candidate in consecutive elections?
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

PoopyfaceMcGee

Well, except for the fact that Lieberman is one of the most socially conservative people in Washington, I guess so.

Either way, it's clear he didn't want to pick anyone "safe," and it's clear he was going to lose regardless.  Obama is the best overall major party candidate in decades, his campaign was run brilliantly, and there is a massive groundswell of anti-Republican thinking permeating the U.S.

At least I'm getting my first stimulus check in a couple of months, from IGY.

Magical_Retard

its odd hearing conservative radio hosts like rush claiming the republicans lost because mccain was too moderate when i believe it was because he went far too right, esp after the pick of palin, that lost him the election. i mean i still see him losing but i thought if he stuck to his roots of being in the middle he would have a lot better chance.

Marge: No hes a scientist
Homer: Batman is a scientist.
Marge: Its not BATMAN!

PoopyfaceMcGee

His only chance was getting the social conservatives and far righties out in droves, actually.
