Other than the fact that starting the 6th meant Upton, the guy who scored the tying run, hit a ball that normally is fielded with ease by Mr. Smooth at SS?

Or that their ace could not throw his best pitch?

Last night was a clusterfarg and Selig played it as bad as he possibly could.

On a funny side note...

My girl was watching some of the game on TV in Peru...the Phanatic came on screen and she was like "what the hell is that thing?!"

You know, maybe it's just the learned despair, but it just doesn't feel right.  I mean, after Rollins got that horrible safe call off Longoria, he was clearly pissed off and ineffective the rest of that game.  I see the same thing happening when this restarts.

If this goes back to Tampa, that could be trouble.  Shields and Garza had great seasons there, and Myers is a nutjob.  Even with Hamels pitching.....I don't know.  This all seems vaguely familiar.

I'm really only a casual baseball fan, so this feeling is not based on any factual analysis, but,....this city's teams always finds a way to farg themselves over.  And when they avoid that, bad luck takes over.

I'll be a lot happier when the Phillies have actually won it.  Till then, I'm worried.
Anyone but Reid.

Please tell me that those who were calling into WIP and whining about it were getting ripped by the hosts.

I was like an imbalanced retard today when thinking about the offense and the ramifications of last night. One moment I'd be thinking about how the Phils were pissed enough to come out and pound the ball thus collectively giving TB and MLB the finger and ending it.

Then I'd flip to being negative and thinking about how TB turned it around,, their offense would come out crushing and the Phils would go down feebly against that raging steroid junkie Grant Balfour or The Anointed One David Price.

Yes on the WIP hosts ripping any idiot that threw away their stub.  Eskin was especially brutal.

Your day sounds like mine.  I've been a frickin' ball of emotions all day.  I still can't believe this shtein.

Alright, I've had a day and a half to process this...

1.  Game should have never started.  The radar pretty clearly showed that the rain was coming and would not let up once it started.
2.  Game should have been stopped after five.  Conditions were pretty unplayable then.
3.  Timing, at least on the surface, should favor the Phils, simply because they have the extra at-bat.
4.  Hopefully the Phils can channel that anger and fustration to their pathetic offensive performance.  If they can get the jump on whatever pitcher the Rays throw in tonight, they could end this early.
5.  Count me among those that have a bad feeling.  Call it negadelphian or whatever, if this goes back to Tampa, I just don't like the possibilities.  Tampa was one of the best teams in the league all year, and the Phils have a tendency to slump.   And momentum does count for something in a tense playoff series.  I won't say that I EXPECT them to lose, but I will say that I will have that nervous (and nauseous) feeling in the pit of my stomach until they win the series.
6.  Anyone else having to avoid the national sports media?  Makes me want to break things.
7.  Bud Selig is an f'n moron.  He's making Gary Bettman, Andy Reid and George Bush look like geniuses right now.
8.  They have 3½ innings.  The game is tied.  They have the extra at-bat.  Hopefully they can make everything else moot tonight.

Steve Phillips said that the MLB and Selig did everything right handling the game monday..lol

My worry, the 2000 Flyers vs Devils.  Up 3-1, i never count teams out now.

All of you....shut up.

If the Phillies can't win it all after this, they dont deserve to win it at all. None of this has any bearing on anything.

I am still pissed about how it was handled because the PHils SHOULD be up 2-1 after 5 right now, but they're not. But they have 4 ABs and the Rays have 3. THey have the best BP in baseball to handle 9 outs...and one of the best offenses in baseball to get one farging run.

If they can't, they're not worthy of winning. Period.

And since they ARE worthy of it, they'll take it. If not here, In that Godforsaken dump of a stadium in Tampa...and shtein all over their wannabe fans.

Oh, and if it IS frigid weather tonight, I want to hear everyone on TV stop complaining because its been frigid in Boston for the World Series every time they're there.

QuoteGenerally I don't use anonymous quotes, unless it's concerning something really big, like when a member of the Phillies sees Bud Selig in the clubhouse following the Game 5 rain delay and utters the immortal line: "I wouldn't let him supervise one of my shteins." Who is this mystery poet? Personally my money's on Cole Hamels, but of course that's just rank speculation. Here are some more clues, plus a second, unknown Selig basher:

From the Courier-Post:

“That (expletive deleted) guy,” one pitcher said as he saw commissioner Bud Selig before walking out the back door of the clubhouse. “I wouldn’t let him supervise one of my (bowel movements). He has no clue. Not one (expletive deleted) clue.”

“(Expletive deleted),” one position player said in the direction of one television pausing only for a moment before leaving. “He’s a moron. How stupid can one person be?”

Speculate away, Phillies fans. But while you're sleuthing, contemplate this: Has there been a more beleaguered baseball commissioner than Selig? I liken him these days to Alan Greenspan, the former Fed chairman who recently admitted that he screwed up royally in the years leading to the country's financial meltdown. But Foul Balls does me one better, likening our Bud to E.B. Farnum, the sweaty-palmed, rodent-like hotel manager/mayor of the HBO series Deadwood. My only regret is that Swearengen is not around to keep him in line.

Im going with Myers

I'm no Sam Donnellan fan at ALL....I think he's a sniveling, miserable little man....but as the saying goes, even a blind squirrel finds a nut.....
