So my girlfriend goes for her visa interview tomorrow. I am nervous as farg, and she is even more nervous. Even if the deny her, she can re-do it. But I want this to be over. We can see the end and if they issue the visa, she will be here in two weeks.

She has all the papers they require. The zesty thing is they only give about 3-5 minutes per interview. So despite needing more paperwork than I can count, letters from everyone, bank statements from her and her father...it comes down to a short interview and whether or not the consular officer is having a good day.

If all else fails, you could marry her...

We thought about it and talked about it, but it is easier said than done and we'd still be looking at another 6-9 months of paperwork.

There is no easy way to do this. Even the fiancee visa takes mounds of paperwork, including providing airplane ticket receipts, phone records, photos, etc. to prove it is not a marriage for money scam.

Even her going and getting a tourist visa would be denied because they deny people from latin countries like crazy. He friend applied several times, just to come here and visit, and was turned down. All the while there are visa waivers available to many European and Asian countries.

The consular officers, and it even says this on the website, are under the assumption that everyone who sits down in front of them for a visa has every intention of overstaying their visa and becoming an illegal immigrant.

Phreak,

I've gone through this whole process with my wife. It can be nerve-wracking and a variety of other things, but usually the interviews are just a formality. If she has gotten to that point, with the background checks and everything already checking out, she should be just fine. Shoot me a PM if you have any questions about the whole process.

Is she planning on staying the states permanately? If so, check out www.visajourney.com

Yes!

She was approved. What a farging relief.

Now we just have to get the plane ticket and she will be here probably next week.

The drawback to marital longevity is your wife always knows when you're really interested in her and when you're just trying to bury it.
