May be huge in that it's a name, but again, why wait until the election is basically decided?  Powell seems to be jumping on when politically expedient.

Who cares. It gives Barry credence from a 'commander in chief' perspective immediately and does a lot to undermine McCain's one perceived advantage.

Politically expedient?  What the farg are you talking about?  Powell is a private citizen.  He's stated over and over that he has no aspirations for public service.  Hell, he even said this morning that he'd merely "consider" a position if asked.  Plus he's adamant about not stumping for Obama.  He's going to vote for him and he stated why and he did so in such a way that wasn't disparaging of McCain either.

Watch the interview and listen to the words he spoke.  The guy is still a Republican and even he has decided that Obama is the man to try and lead us out of the morass we find ourselves in.
