The BIGSTUD

Charlie's explanation:

If Hamels put one or two on, he would've pulled Hamels anyway. Plus the first few batters up were rightees and Lidge is .170 a clip against them. He thought it was set up perfectly for him.

He also said situations like this are what they have Lidge for.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

I see.  So Uncle Cholly didn't actually watch the last three innings that Hamels pitched.  Instead, he asked someone in the clubhouse how many pitches Hamels had thrown, realized it was the ninth inning, and went with Lidge.

Awesome.  How the Phillies haven't won the World Series every year with Manuel managing is beyond me.

lidge was the obvious move to make. hes been...lights out and its a playoff game, why the farg wouldnt you use him. is it mauels fault he didnt know lidge slider would be flatter than kate hudson? no, he cant. but whatever, they won. thats all that counts.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

I would usually agree with bringing in the closer if the starter didn't have anything left.  Hamels was rolling through the Brewers without breaking a sweat, though.  He was totally dominant and with a three run lead there was no reason to expect he'd do anything but continue the dominance.

Whatever, though.  I'm just nitpicking and it's annoying even me at this point.

Great game from Hamels and they got the win.  That's all that counts.

First playoff win in nearly 15 years, right?  I'll take it.

i guess i'm rooting for the dodgers just so it'll be easier to get my hands on some NLCS tickets.

Honestly, Lidge hasn't been that "lights out" the past week or so.  Most of his saves have been 20+ pitches, putting men on base, and being Houdini to get out of it (with a huge assist from Rollins in the clincher).

Not sure what's the matter, but with the way Hamels was pitching, they should have left him in and allowed Lidge another day of rest.  Hamels was dominating the whole game, and more so in the later innings.

no...hes been struggling lately and you had cole at maybe his most dominating ever...no reason to bring him in at that point...now hes shot for tomorrow...a game that if you do win you arent likely to be up by a lot and will need your closer

2-3-4 up and your lights close rested and ready to go. unless cole was pitching a perfect game, i go to lidge. thats why they pay him $10 mil.

you dont play people by how much money they make and he hasnt been near lights out lately

and like romey said cole was lights at the time...thats the big factor here...had retired eight in a row

charlie tried to fix something that wasnt broke and almost paid for it...and he wasted lidge for tommorow while he was at it...should be fun watching madson or romero close out a 2-1 game if it comes to that

lidge can pitch back to back days, he'll be ready to go.

you cant think about game 2 before you won game 1, they needed 3 outs in a 3 run game to win, hamels was dealing but you had a rested lidge who you have to totally trust because he has never let you down. havas.

Let's face it; whichever move Cholly makes there is probably the wrong one.  He's an idiot.

whoever tried to get playoff tickets but didn't check your email now.  i just got an email about second chance tix for Game 5 and was able to get 3 of them for face value.

That's a scam.  You just donated the sum of 5,220,000.00 Euros to the Nigerian freedom fund.
