Well, I can't control who gets into these things. Some of them are good, many of them are not so good. At every event I've been to, I find myself shaking my head about some of them. It's kid of like watching the early episodes of American Idol, where the "singer" obviously has never heard themselves, so they only think they are a good singer. I've seen some models and wondered what the hell they actually think when they look at themselves.

In all seriousness, though...Madison Avenue models are probably doing this stuff for real money in a major metro area somewhere. The ones I get to shoot are usually "working" for free, or for the chance to get some decent photos in their portfolio, with the hope of being discovered or something.

Actually, it was a meeting set up for a bunch of photographers and models in a local farm.

This is just very cool - a software package that allows you to navigate large numbers of pictures by rendering them in 3d space.  Watch the video.
