Here's a picture of the collision between Victorino and McCann the other game.

hey Don, did they show that on the highlights, awesome play by the way

They had the whole sequence in Monday's sport page.  The local press is all over Shane.  Updates every night.

Funny as Kurt Suzuki of the A's is also a Maui boy, played for Shane's high school rival.  He's having a great year in Oakland.  Tough little shtein.

BTW, Burrell leads the national league in outfield assists... again.

Yeah, he may move at a glacial pace (though faster than Manny Ramirez, from what I hear), but he has a strong and accurate arm.

I was watching the game last night listening to Nats broadcast, and one of the tards dropped a pretty nice stat on Victorino. They were talking about he's almost impossible to strike out, and that he makes contact in 90+ percent of his ABs. I checked, and as of this morning dude has 366 ABs with 39 strike outs. Someone needs to attach Howard to his hip.

also does anyone of our loser dc people know if its true that the nats box office closes at 5?

Google.

Fans may purchase single game tickets through nationals.com, by calling 888.632.NATS (6287) or by going to the Nationals Park box office located on the corner of the Northeast Parking Garage at the Center Field Gate. Box office hours are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. - 3 p.m

If you are trying to get tickets, but can't make it by 5:00, you can order them online and print them. I did this for the Tuesday game, they just scan your print out on the way in.

QuoteRockies close to decision on Fuentes

Wednesday, July 30, 2008 | Print Entry

The Rockies informed all the teams interested in reliever Brian Fuentes on Wednesday afternoon that they would decide late Wednesday night whether to put Fuentes on the market. All those teams also were told exactly what it would take from their club to get Fuentes if the Rockies opt to trade him. At least three of those clubs -- the Mets, Phillies and Rays -- have told the Rockies that, because of the price, they're out of the Fuentes derby.

No way on Fuentes.

And no on anyone else, either:

QuotePhils unlikely to add reliever

The Phillies made a move for a starting pitcher in Joe Blanton at the All-Star break, and they have evaluated the market for relievers. But with 30 minutes remaining before the deadline, it did not appear the Phillies would land a reliever; it was more likely the deadline would come and go without the Phillies making a trade, sources said. Of course, that could change with a single phone call.

He's been adding that last line to every post.  Stellar reporting.

another reason they are a joke.  Boston has Manny blow up on them and has to trade him in a week, and they manage to get an all-star back.

the Phillies traded Bobby Abreu when they had a half of a year to get offers for him and got 4 stiffs back that will never play for them ever.

speaking of abreu

remember when they traded abreu and gillick said they were sellers because the team wasnt ready to win that year or even the next...but in two years they would be a world series contender...well we are in that year now and nothing has changed

I've been trying to tell you for 3 years that Gillick is not a good GM. He's made, 3 good moves in 3 years?

I would say doing nothing at the deadline would be a good thing because most of Gillick's team's fall apart shortly after leaving them, but his replacement is probably going to be Amaro...and not Arbuckle (as it should be if you were to limit yourself to in house candidates).
