Still LOL @ Adam Eaton, then.

Is Happ any better?  Probably not.

Are all of the posters here any better?  Probably so.

I think Happ is going to be a bit overrated by some due to his recent success, but I don't think you can do much worse than Eaton right now.

I agree with Wingspan.  Move Myers to the pen.

Wingspan

Happ is no savior. But like Blanton, helps shore up the back of the rotation.

Hamels/Kendrick/Moyer/Blanton/Happ is better than

Hamels/Kendrick/Moyer/Eaton/Myers

If nothing else, you remove the two pitchers that are most likely to implode on any given start and give you stability in the rotation. They still need a stud to go with Hamels as a 1-2 punch...but I doubt that happens by weeks end.

He only threw 40 pitches. He could probably start tomorrow.

The phils rotation is like the birds WRs in 04...you have a #1 Hamels...and then 4 #3 guys.

And then when they can't re-sign Hamels, they have 5 #3 guys?

so it took them a year and a half to pull to plug on eaton? wow.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Good news. It's about goddamn time.

I would use Happ out of the pen to help. Let Romero become the LH specialist.

PHILADELPHIA — Jimmy Rollins might want to head the other way if he sees Dallas Green coming his way.

Big D isn't happy with J-Roll's recent behavior, and, as usual, the Phillies' outspoken senior advisor to the general manager still isn't bashful about speaking his mind.

"Jimmy and I have a pretty good relationship," Green said Sunday in the middle innings of the Phillies' 12-10 win over the Atlanta Braves. "I'll tell him when I think he's done right, and I'll tell him when I think he's done wrong.

"He's done wrong. He's done wrong for the team, he's done wrong for himself and he's done wrong for Charlie."

Green, who will turn 73 next week and is in his 52nd season of pro baseball, strongly supports manager Charlie Manuel's decision to pull Rollins from the game for not hustling on June 5, and he also agrees with Manuel's benching of the 2007 National League MVP last Thursday for showing up at the ballpark late.

"I think we're all disappointed in Jimmy's reaction to what's going on," said Green, the manager of the Phillies' only championship team in 1980. "His body language is just brutal right now. The body language doesn't say that 'I'm busting my [rear] right now.' "

Hearing Rollins' post-game comments last Thursday bothered Green. Rollins said he was stuck in traffic and didn't think he let the team down because replacement Eric Bruntlett had three hits in a loss to the Mets at Shea Stadium. Green doesn't think Rollins realizes he's been a problem, and adds most of his teammates surely aren't happy with him. "Jimmy doesn't sense, I don't think, that the guys are starting to get upset with him," Green said. Rollins hasn't had a great season on the field, either, although he did contribute two hits, including his first homer in 33 games in Sunday's victory. Afterward, Rollins basically blew off the media for the third day in a row. A day after offering a "what a game; that's my quote" statement, Rollins was asked for a second of his time after Sunday's game and said, "Your second's up" while leaving the clubhouse. According to one major league scout, a change in Rollins was noticed back in March.

"He didn't run out a ball in spring training," the scout said.

When the Phillies were vying for the pennant in 1980, Green had an off-the-field issue with Garry Maddox and didn't start the eighttime Gold Glove center fielder six games in a row in the final week of the regular season.

"You gotta go with the rules you set," Green said. "If the rule is disobeyed, you gotta follow through with it, and Charlie did."

Years later, Green says he wouldn't be so harsh on Rollins, although sitting him one game wouldn't be his punishment for tardiness.

"I wouldn't have played [Rollins] the next day," Green said, "but it's a different time. Charlie did the right thing. Charlie said that he talked to him, and they got it straightened out. I assume that's what happened."

Wingspan

I hope the phils are smart enough to keep Dallas Green locked up in a cage somewhere. He shouldn't be allowed near the players. He's from a different era...let him go out to pasture already.

Rome

Green expects players to act professionally off the field and bust their asses on the field.  But yeah, the Phillies should totally keep a guy like that away from today's players because today's players are a bunch of spoiled rotten disrespectful punks.

PhillyPhreak54

Normally I agree with keeping Green away and his trap wired shut. I am of the belief that players should be called out in private, which is why I like how Reid and Charlie go about business. But for some reason I liked seeing Green get on Jimmy's ass. Maybe Jimmy needs it and maybe it will help. He's been a bitch too much this year. He acts like they won something and that his big head is warranted.

Rome

He is supposed to be the leader and team captain.  A leader or captain doesn't act the way he's acting either by dogging it on the field or acting like an icehole off it.  It's inconceivable to me that he's now acting this way after the way he played last year.  There's no rational explanation for it, but I guarantee you money is going to end up being part of the reason for his behavior.  Just wait and see.

Geowhizzer

For whatever the reason, he's done a complete 180 this season - in style of play, in demeanor, and in results.

Almost like his head swelled a bit too much from the MVP season.

QuotePhillies could Acquire Halladay after recent reports?
Rumor has it Roy Halladay is not happy currently in Toronto, and Howard Eskin from 610 WIP stated that the Phillies inquired immediately to find that the price was atleast 3 top prospects. After backing off for a little bit, the Phillies offered SS Jason Donald, C Lou Marson, P JA Happ, and PTBNL. Toronto thought about the offer, and neglected, but said the offer was very close to what they wanted. He said that they wanted Fabio Castro added to the deal, but the Phillies expect Castro to be in the pen by the end of the year.

Look, no way this is true. If it is and the farging iceholes refused to add Fidel farging Castro they should all be shot and tea-bagged by Max Jean-Gilles.
