i dont see how obama wins...hes had the best week he could ever possibly have and most polls still have the race within the margin of error

Aren't you the "polls are meaningless" guy?

Yes, the national polls still are pretty close, but the US president is not elected by popular vote.  On a state-by-state basis, Obama leads McCain by > 5% in states worth 231 electoral votes, with another 53 on the + side for him.  States worth 107 electoral votes are a statistical tie.

So, to lose Obama would have to lose all 10 "battleground" states, then lose either Michigan or Ohio.  Read that again: Obama would have to lose 11 out of 12 states that he currently is tied or ahead in the polls.

There is no way short of a massive farg-up by Obama for him to lose this.  He got through the "world tour" without a major gaffe, his next big test is his choice of VP.  Meanwhile McCain makes massive screwup  (was it sunni or shiia?) after massive screwup (the surge started a year before Bush announced it) and gets a pass from the press.  The only reason McCain is still in the race is because of the Media bias (72% of stories about Obama have been negative, 57% of stories about McCain have been negative).
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

it never ends.

Indeed.  Just absolutely ridiculous.  To make some guaranteed money, ask IGY if he wants to put $100 on McCain.

The details aren't necessary.

All you need to know is only evil rich people are going to pay more.  Obviously, that will not hurt the economy or the average person at all.  Just like taxing big corporations.  Soak them all!

For serious, Obama has to be careful.  I don't think he'll end up levying nearly as many tax increases as he's proposing, but if you're looking to increase the tax burden of the upper class 5+%, problems could come your way.  Personal safety is the least of them.

explain to me why after one of the worst presidencys ever...an unpopular war...a horrible economy...a pathetic opponent...that obama isnt destroying mccain

also look at some of the house seats that democrats have won in hardcore republican districts over the last couple years...all that plus his wildly successful world wide tour and with mccain flubbing things left and right and its still a tight race?

doesnt bode well for him

Daily gallup has a 9-point lead.  That would be a virtual landslide if the election were held today.  I'm not sure what you want.  I know that in your little world, there are a lot more Obama fans than McCain fans.  But, Obama has a fairly standard Democratic platform that leaves fiscal conservatives like me very cold.  He's not a centrist at all.  And while McCain has certainly cozied up to the right and sold his soul, he still is different from Bush on spending (which attracts conservatives) and the environment (which attracts moderates).

I know it's hard for you to believe, but no matter how eloquent and popular Barack Obama is, there are still a lot of people in the country, even plenty in many of your precious blue and northern states, that categorically disagree with most of his platform.  He's still going to win by a large margin, but you can't expect everyone to pile on the Barack train just because Bush is a farging train wreck.

so a lot of people hate him but hes gonna win by a large margin?

with the perfect storm of factors i listed there isnt any good reason barry isnt up by 25 pts...this should be a clinton dole race right now...the fact that it isnt should be of great concern to obama

thank god he isnt centrist...we need more true liberal politicians

oh and mccain isnt different from bush on spending...mccain has admitted to knowing nothing about the economy so what hes done is latch onto and back bushes economic platform...he has said he will continue the bush tax cuts if hes elected...in fact hes voted 100% in line with bush and republicans on economic matters in congress for the last two years

Your flawed assumption is that more than 10-15% of the population will change their vote in any given election.  In 1980, Ronald Reagan had one of the biggest electoral landslides in history and he won the popular vote by < 10%.  84 was an even bigger win, with a margin of 18%.  Mondale won one state, with a woman running-mate, and the margin was still less than 20%.  The last two elections were decided by popular vote margins of 3% and 2%.

Clinton beat Dole by 9%.  And Clinton was not black.

You think Obama's success isn't having an effect?  What about rock-solid red states Indiana, Virginia and North Carolina being on the table, states that have not been won by a Democrat in over 30 years?  McCain has only a 5 point lead in farging Texas.  Texas

Now factor in that 80% of the country is paying no attention to the election at this point.  Everyone is on vacation and the candidates know that.  Wait until fall when the debates start, and McCain turns in a Nixon-like performance.  Wait until the VP is picked, and Obama comes up with a centrist, or even Republican running mate to appease the middle.

Obama will continue to pull away if he doesn't make a Thomas Eagleton level mistake.

Clinton beat Dole by only 8.5%, actually.

IGY full of shtein as usual, and yet we all continue to attempt to talk sense into him.  Overblown opinions are king.

lol clinton beat dole by over 200 electoral votes

this race is probably going to come down to a state or two

hell some people are even predicting we could have a electoral tie

again this should be clinton dole right now and it isnt...things that make you go hmmmm
