Anyone seen a good movie lately?

Depp was one of the actors that filled in for Ledger in his unfinished performance ("The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassius").  But, it sounds like having anyone reprise "The Joker" in the next film would be a very, very bad idea.

I'll give you all a definitive yay or nay after I see the movie in IMAX today.  I know you're all waiting patiently.

Depp would be atrocious as the Joker. Day-Lewis could probably pull it off.

The only way the character can succeed in future installments is if he is limited in his screen time. A Hannibal Lecter-like, behind the scenes, puppetmaster who isn't the main focus of the movie and isn't on screen for extended periods of time. I think that could work, if the Joker is the 'main' antagonist in another Batman movie, then you're all right and doesn't matter who plays it.

My vote for the next villain is Dane Cook. His acting skills have been on the shelf too long since his last movie.

You really are the stupidest motherfarger on the face of the earth.

lol

Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

Sarcasm or not, you're still an idiot.

You hit it on the head.  Keep Joker in the shadows - no direct contact with Batman, etc.

So, holy shtein... this was an incredible movie to see in IMAX.  farging impressive.  4.5/5 (probably a 4/5 on DVD).  It's not really worth going into all the same specifics as everyone else, but I'm going to do some of it anyway.

Ledger:  Creepy as hell.  The lip-licking thing was probably the best nuance.  Better than 50/50 shot of winning the Best Supporting Actor trophy.  I'd put $20 on it right now.

Gyllenhaal looked a little beat.  Not that it matters now.

Dent is definitely not dead.  The little memorial thing with Gordon speaking is a cover, and Dent's in a mental hospital in the middle of nowhere (or something) so that no one realizes what he's become.

I liked how all the punches were sharp and loud - kind of a tribute to the "POW" stuff from the comic.

Batman's voice is the ghay.  It's like Dirty Harry, but with none of the Clint Eastwood toughness.  It's probably my biggest complaint about the movie, though.

2 1/2 hours, and fast-paced and entertaining throughout.  It's not really a work of art - it's a work of entertainment.  Basically the whole reason you see something on the big screen.

See it in the theater, if you haven't already.  IMAX was damn sexy, but a good regular theater would be 100x better than waiting for DVD.

i think the nolan brothers (director and his screenplay writing brother) both confirmed dent is dead.

but then again aaron eckhardt said in a interview he would love to be in the 3rd one.

depp as the riddler?
Marge: I have someone who can help you!
Homer: Is it BATMAN!!??
Marge: No hes a scientist
Homer: Batman is a scientist.
Marge: Its not BATMAN!

I am actually a big Johnny Depp fan, but I'm even getting sick of him.  Pass.

Would be a shame.  He was actually interesting as the villain.  Eckhardt wasn't the abortion I expected.

That's stupid. What was the point of Two Face kidnapping Gordon's family if his character is dead. It just added dead weight to the end of the movie... I'm not buying it.

Rome

I think we can all agree that Jessica Alba would be the perfect Batgirl.

The "good for cats" comment or whatever is a nice little allusion to the possibility of a Catwoman in the next one, as others have mentioned.

There are some hot actresses that can also act, though, right?  Charlize Theron, maybe?

I just watched Death Proof and really enjoyed it. I hadn't expected to at all, but that's only because I made the mistake of listening to you idiots. I actually thought that Kurt Russell was really good and even though the story was choppy and didn't always make sense it was a completely enjoyable flick.

Also saw Snow Falling on Cedars, which I enjoyed more than expected as well and had some actual redeeming value to its story.
